I don’t know why these are not more popular. I had an ion impact vest which would ride up badly on my pencil like body. The forward WIP I’ve used half a dozen times now and it fits great, doesn’t ride up and having the additional hook for a harness line is very convenient as Ive been able to just take it off until I’m ready to use a harness line. There’s also a webbed loop below the hook that I attach my wing to and it works great ! My only piece of advice would be the security of leaving my car key in the zip section. I absolutely love it there on the front but it should have a loop sewn inside the pocket like on my boardshorts to clip the keys to for extra piece of mind. Other than that I think it ticks every box for me !!

Maybe top tip for long life of vest is to keep side straps tight so as not to put strain on zip? I've worn this Forward WIP impact vest for about 50 three hour sessions and it has been great. I would definitely buy another. Sadly on the last session the puller came away from the side zipper and i think a wee bit is missing. I've managed to put some wire through the remaining zipper hole so looks like a fix but maybe the company could do with going to a more heavy duty zipper like what the back zip on wetsuits use ? On the other hand it might be due to me not being careful about making the side straps tight but then again i never figured out how the strap was going to be held firmly by the buckle bit. I have just remedied it by melting a hole through the strap with soldering iron and put a chicago screw / rivet to be sure the strap is doing the holding and not putting strain on the zip. I've had 150 hours use out of it so £1 per hour is ok, not complaining and maybe i can get quite a lot more. Any chance of a new zipper ? ( edit October 2023 I bought a new Forward WIP manufactured 2022 and it looks like the zip is already more chunky than what was on the 2020 version i had. First one still working, kinda, got new one ready for when needed )

How to get the black plate that keeps the intercom on the headset ? (I already have talkin bb and a Wiflex helmet).

Given the metal / sharp mast required by foils, this helmet doesn't seem suitable - I found out there's no shell, it is foam only. Presumably the foil mast will cut straight through?
@forwardwipaustralia50822 жыл бұрын
The Wiflex helmet complies with International standards EN 1385 so you have no worries about protection. All our helmets meet the highest standards of impact protection
@action-nerd2 жыл бұрын
I understand EN1385 is a soft standard, not suitable for higher impacts such as foil masts, so I'll go for something a bit more durable. I have to do better than 'trust me, she'll be right'. If I'm wrong, I'd be happy to hear the details.

The back zip is way too difficult to close when you are on your own. Actually, it is next to impossible to close and open again. I was pottering for 15 minutes - at least. Equally, in size L, the chest is way too wide - the pants fit but the top part is a good 5-10 cm too large.

high back zip is best position for wind water sports it allows to wear harness and it grants best agility. it is the standard position. front zip reduce arms agility. use a rope with a hook attached to a pole. and rotate your shoulders. common surfer trick
