Ok...I downloaded this plug in to give it a try...wow! I put it up against the UAD LA-2A collection and I have to say not only does it sound as good, I love the extra fine tuning you get with it. The 7 different models and their curves clearly illustrated was super helpful along with the ability to dial in more tube saturation and adjusting the responsiveness. The drums did sound a bit more punchy which says something about the adjustments you can make on Opal. I don't usually go with LA-2A on drums (the Kiive ADC1 sounds great on drums). Thanks mates!

How I understood it, the point being made in all AP’s videos is that vintage modelled plugins aren’t the difference between a good mix and a crappy one. For example, free EQ’s (such as Nova) can make a mix sound just as good so long as the right decisions are being made when using it. Therefore, why bother spending lots of money on modelled EQ’s? I think he demonstrates these points quite effectively.

@@user-oe9ng9hw6y Yep...I've mixed stuff that has done well internationally with just stock plugins way before there was analogue modelling plugins to use...but it's way quicker and better sounding to the critical ear with them in my opinion.👍

I just discovered this plugin and I love it!! I've been scaling down my EQ options when mixing and I'm down to this SLP, FabFilter Q3, Sonimus A-EQ (API style) & Noise Ash Ruletec. What I love about the SLP is the auto gain which is very nice. You make your adjustments and you don't have to fidget with the fader or compensate the output. The THD is easy to dial in. Finally the High and Low pass have resonant filters so you get a 2-3 db boost at the freq you set them at. Nice for drums when you dial in the high pass at the bass drum and snare resonant freq to get that small boost and then it just cleans up the rest of the bottom end. Cracking plugin!

At some point be sure to check out Korneff’s Puff Puff. It is kind of a silly name and the UI bothers some but the thing is really good. A tip Dan Korneff gave in his newsletter is to just add two at default settings back to back on your master bus and sit back to enjoy.. and he’s not wrong

Great vid as usual. It's great seeing the last dying breathes of the plugin industry go through it's final convulsions and you fellows are the best at ushering us throughout that hilarious sh*t show. I have to comment though, I thought that by now, plugin developers would be offering us their daft plugins for free, or even paying us swivel eyed users to waste our time with their cadaver efforts at adding extra pointlessness and piss upon an industry whose final product is almost entirely bereft of commercial value. Long live AI and the defunctness of the mixing and mastering industry that has conned us all for years.
