Everything in this video is spot on I have one apart on my bench right now, one thing left out is that the latch on the trigger guard has to go up in around the barrel latch in order to install and remove the barrel, it’s the trickiest part IMO been at it now over 40 minutes lol

I worked for the government for 32 years. The government can take some of the most simple objectives and turn it into a complete and utter mess. None of the people have ever been in business, they do not know what it takes to make money in business and they do not understand that their job depends on taxpayers. Many of these people honestly believe they know what is better for you than you do. Bottom line, they are not your friend and may become your enemy at some point. At the time of this writing, they displayed that they are not interested in your constitutional rights. Beware.

I'm sure you get a lot of comments so I won't be bummed if you don't respond, but I was watching an earlier video you made about the different bullets used for reloading. You mentioned there are some forums out there. Could you let us know which forum(s) you rely on for information about reloading, please? Thanks.

When I’m looking for information on reloading, bullets etc. I search for it, use Google or duck duck go. You’ll get a ton of websites. I read several of them, and I don’t rely on any specific site. What I try to do is look for commonalities across many blogs, articles etc. you’ll see some common sites that always come up like snipers hide.

Interesting I ran across this video looking for something else. Good video. Ive done about a dozen Savage barrel swaps and recently had one that it took every thing I had with a 4 foot breaker bar to get loose. It was screwed on so tight it galled the threads and then destroyed the barrel threads. Savage refuses to warranty it. I was removing the barrel on a customer gun to thread it for a muzzle brake and it was a short barrel to fit through my lathes headstock. I ended up carefully cleaning up the threads on the lathe and lots of thread filing. I found no evidence of thread locker on it so someone at Savage had to of torqued it beyond 100 ft lbs. Ridiculous

What happens with squibbies all depends on tolerance of the barrel and diameter of the projectile. 2 weeks ago I had a squib and didn't know it due to having my ears on and fired a 2nd time. Both bullets shot out BUT small debris did come back smack me in the face. Mostly burned gun powder. The gun it happened with was a Taurus 627 .357 7 shot. Being new to reloading it was my first batch of 38/.357 rounds done on the low end of the scale per lyman manual.

Bad info here. Find your lands, and run those Hornady's off the lands about .020" off the lands. Don't go by the book max OAL, like you are saying!!! Very bad advice. You should always know where those lands are, when you are loading every bullet you are working with. With most "hunting" style bullets, start at .020" off the lands for reliability, then load for OCW. For those that don't know what OCW is, that is optimum charge weight. That is where "working up" a load comes into play. This video is horrible, even though it is just for "Tim".

Thanks for an awesome video! I bought my master reloading kit back in 2000 and gave my 505 away to a new reloader as well because I bought a digital scale. That rotten RCBS master reloading scale was horrible. It would jump all over the place. It would take me two hours to load 20 shells I swear. I just finally got given a 505 scale and can’t wait to play with it since I never tried one before and all these decades. I finally got rid of that master reloading scale when it went on the blank a few years ago and got the charge master light, which is ridiculous accurate and quick. I can drop 20 powder charges in probably less than two minutes with it and they’re perfectly accurate but I still want a old-school scale to double check my homework.

I just got the one that was given to me today. Mine only has two adjustments and not three so it must be a super old one, but it’s still a 505. It looks like it goes to five grains in front and then in back it goes to 500

Sammi specs for 9mm chamber is .3913 +.004 and case is .3910 -.007 so per Sammi that case is within specs! I agree the bulge is a problem but by your measurements it should chamber or your chamber is out of spec. I own a ammo manufacturing company. And I would use pins to check my chamber and make sure it's in spec have

I’ve never been a fan of Lee progressive presses but a friend got 3 different Lee presses for free and had been stored poorly and we didn’t know what parts were missing or any damage. After knocking off surface rust on the dies and other bare metal spots, I properly refurbished everything and after a thorough scrubbing it went together pretty well and it took some time for me to figure out how it all dialed in. The main frame is robust and seems like a quality part as does the main ram shell plate base. The numerous plastic parts was pretty cheap feeling and operated crudely even after smoothing out any nicks and well lubed. In comparison to my Rock Chucker and Hornady LNL progressive I appreciate mine even more. My other presses are expensive since we get what we pay for and they haven’t let me down over the years. I got my Hornady in a horse trade and refurbished it to new condition and saved a ton of cash. I mention this since the Lee press does seem to do the job intended and at a low initial cost. I’m wondering how many rounds of rifle ammo a loader can expect to load before having some serious issues or does it hang in there well if taken care of and not abused? I’ve used a Lee single stage a friend gave me as a companion press and again, no complaints. Here in San Antonio I’ve seen a few used Lee presses for sale dirt cheap but nobody wants them. I looked on the Lee website to find some instructions and found out that Lee is stopping production on progressive presses but will support older models with replacement parts. Was this decision made due to low sales or loss of confidence from the market demographic? Or maybe they plan to shift production to improve their quality or maybe bring in something that’ll shock us to pull in more customers as did Hornady when the Lock-n-Load progressive hit the market. Well, thanks for your time and I appreciate your video, helped me quite a bit.
@vaughnprecision
@vaughnprecision 2 ай бұрын
I’ve loaded hundreds upon hundreds of 223 on this press, seemed to hold up well. I think Lee is focusing in on a progressive, I forget the model, but discontinued the others. All Lee progressive presses are finicky and I agree the plastic feels cheap, cause it is. But for the working man just looking to get started Lee offers a decent price point. I no longer own mine, I sold it. If I buy another it will probably be a Dillon press. But those aren’t cheap.! I wish MEC would develop a progressive press for pistol/small rifle rounds.
@echohunter4199
@echohunter4199 2 ай бұрын
@@vaughnprecision thanks for the reply, as I look over the accessories for this press it seems that no mechanical engineer was consulted and the designer was Rube Goldberg, lol. It’s like it’s some abstract art piece that was found by a Lee employee and put into production. I think if someone came up with quality aftermarket add ons to replace the current goofy ones, they’d be on to something competitive.

Half a cigar.. yes the low powder load is a problem, but that is not the cause.. what is happening is that the powder is slammed against the base of the bullet and then detonates.
