Glad you're safe bro. I also hate when the wind just doesn't do what it should. I also have a TORQEEDO, and my fin drive. But constant 15 mph and the gusts are usually higher, I'm turning back. Or depending on the lake I'm on. I usually have protected coves to still enjoy the day. And if I'm in a tournament, I'll find somewhere well protected and give up my spot. Rather be on my kayaks another day. Or not flip and ruin a day, or accessories. 🙏 🌊 🎣

@@ianm6856 Depends. Nothing wrong with having an extra rod or two lol. The benefit to the Yak rod is its handle. For bank fishing you'd probably prefer a long rod with a longer handle. Thanks Ian!

Hey bro, glad you're okay, and the yak is fine. I Have a HOODOO Tempest 120 Hybrid. It's a PDL and Takes the trolling motor. I keep everything tethered, all my emergency lights, headlamp, extra water, keys wallet, etc on a good size dry bag, in my front hatch. I also have a piece of foam zip tied on all my rods above the reel, and my net, I lined it with foam. I've never flipped yet lol..I have probably 12 pad eyes installed on my deck. This is my 2nd season. Last year I spent installing and testing all my addons and accessories more than fishing. But it happens to us all. Be safe bro. Beautiful large mouth you caught. God bless 🤟🎣🙏🙏

I like this rod a lot but I'd prefer something with just a bit more backbone when I fish waters where bigger fish lurk. For average bass (LM and SM) or walleye fishing away from cover or with little cover other than weeds it's a pleasure to fish with though. It casts light lures well. Looking forward to trying it on some inshore fish this winter but thinking I'll use a stouter rod mostly. I'm lucky, I have a lake house 30 minutes from the St Croix factory so I'm able to stop in frequently and check for sales, rummage through their B and C rods and attend their annual customer appreciation days. Great small town company that makes great products and stands behind them.

You are lucky! Would love to tour the factory one day.

Nice video! I like that you didn't edit out some of the frustrating parts of your day. Keeps it "reel." I've done quite a bit of freshwater yak fishing the last couple years but just one day (guided) of inshore. One thing I've found is that a pedal yak really frees up my hands and makes for fewer "oops" moments. Waiting for covid to abate so I can fish Mosquito Lagoon this winter or in the spring. Hopefully I can get on some fish like you did. Keep up the good work. Subscribed.

Would you know the difference between this rod and the regular (non kayak) spinning mojo? I'm thinking about getting one and I have a bit of a dumb dillema. I exclusively fish from shore, but I like the look of the kayak rod better. Any differences between them that would make the regular one better for shore fishing as opposed to this one?
@ReelOne3 жыл бұрын
The main difference is the handle I presume. The Mojo Yak handle/grips are Winn Grips and are significantly shorter. They are designed so you have a little more control and the handle doesn't get caught up in your PFD. This is an awesome rod that you could definitely use from shore but keep in mind about the shortened handle.
@TheFishingNomad3 жыл бұрын
@@ReelOne Thanks. I heard you mention that in the video, but thought there might be more. I like the way the Winn grips look better than the cork. I know that might sound like a dumb reason to chose one over the other, but if both are the same then I guess that could be the tie breaker. Thanks for the help.
@ReelOne3 жыл бұрын
@@TheFishingNomad I love Winn Grips and believe them to be superior to cork esp if your hands will be getting wet. Also they look better and last longer

@@ReelOne how long is it from the butt end of the rod to the reel seat?
@ReelOne2 жыл бұрын
@@GregBrittain I no longer own the rod, it broke again months later. I contacted St Croix and had it upgraded to the AVID Inshore. Looking at the St Croix website it has the lengths, I believe it shows a little over 7 inches.

What reel do you pair this rod with exactly? Trying to find a good reel that will match perfectly
@ReelOne3 жыл бұрын
A Shimano Stradic FK 3000.. That model is discontinued I believe. I personally would now go with a Shimano Stradic FL 2500 or 3000. I fish mainly inshore or lakes on my Kayak so I don't need a lot of line, that size works very well for me. The rod isn't cheap so I would buy something of comparable quality.
