its over these are just a few more loose ends, it's like seven people died in only a few quantum fields but not all of them, and their spaceship diverged into two different attempts at a future. it should be one spaceship now.

DXpeditioners---- if you are heading toward Asia I can report on the parts and accessories that are available in Bangkok Thailand on the way. Bangkok has the equivalent of a kind of Radio Row....... And there are little shops there selling only capacitors or only resistors and they find shop of small s s hardware. I shoped for some coax and found two or three places that had all of the various coaxes you can name and one had one huge roll of top of the line RG8. Gy rope and insulators and other items are all present. Recently a siocking store opened for ICOM here and a couple of others will get you at USA prices whatever rig you can spell in English. You can get pretty well stocked up if you pass through this district in Bangkok Thailand. Ask a RAST remember to shop for you in advance if you must.

2023 now. 1997 seems so long ago.. The quality of the recorded video is just typical for that era. Great expedition, great report, great Clannad :) I am no radio expert at all. I just rolled into it when people asked me to design their QSL cards (because i can draw a little). I saw their equipment, their antennas, their rig. It fascinated me.. Certainly their enthousiasm inspired me. Today, i am (sort of) afraid, that the base knowledge of radio transmissions is getting lost in our modern digital SDR world.

Wow, had no idea anyone visited Heard in 97. I was aboard the Aurora Australis in 97 on the way back from Davis, we dropped in at Heard on the way home. Spent a few hours ashore at the old ANARE camp. Mcdonald Island was volcanically active back then

3:16 How much does it cost to charter a big ship like that? It must be pretty expensive?
@qrptoqro7834 Жыл бұрын
It depends on how it is done. DXPedition transportation has come in the form of "riding along" with an existing research expedition. If you aren't aware, you can charter a room on research and expedition ships - sort of like a less luxurious cruise to more remote areas. I am not sure what the regulations are for that, but you have to do some digging to find where/what those trips are. If there is a research team already going to the place you are going - that brings down the cost significantly. If you are chartering a ship like this - with a helicopter and full crew - like this '97 DXPedition - solely for the DXPedition trip - I'd think it would at least be in to the millions of dollars (USD). Maybe $1-2M? Less expensive methods do exist - such as going in smaller boats (sailing) with a dinghy to get you on-shore. However, in harsh environments that won't work too well. Then you're back to "how do you get all the supplies and equipment there and back" and you end up with needing a bigger ship to handle it.
