A good rule is "the country that wins must be able to host if they win". So what they did in 2023 when they let the UK host for Ukraine, should not have to happen. Instead, Ukraine wouldn't be in the contest until it's safe to host there. Same thing applies to Israel

I think this young man shows the reason why young people can not or should not be elected to a role of leadership in a society. He is on one hand saying it is a difficult situation and yet he then gives a definitive answer to the problem. I agree with him that no nation involved in a military conflict should be allowed to enter Eurovision , but that means Ukraine should not be included next year either, as has been the case since 2022 with Russia and Belarus. Also this is a song contest and on one hand he says that politics has no place here, and then the other says that the EBU should use politics to decide who enters and what they can do. The Keffiyeh is not just a piece of clothing, It has been used by groups in many nations as a part of the uniform to show they are fighting in conflicts, and the only reason he is wearing one is to make sure everyone knows who he sides with. If a German entry was to wear the swastika on stage then all kinds of hell would break lose. When he said the EBU have handled this issue incompetently he is correct. The current EBU structure lacks leadership and they are the ones allowing politics to takeover the event. The reason Eurovision has lost its appeal to a lot of casual viewers is similar to the Oscars. You have just about every entry droning on about one issue or another instead of just singing and creating the performance. Until that happens Melodifestvallen and San Remo will start to gain ground, as they are just about the music and nothing else, no social issues, no political issues and no signs of prejudice or bias.

If all countries that are in a military conflict is to be banned there will not be many left. NATO is in a proxywar in ukraine, so no NATO countries then. UK is also participating in bombing houthies. This will be a very difficult path to follow. EBU already have a rule about non political lyrics, which they clearly do not follow. Ukraine should have had the red card many years ago. This year their performance were filled with extreme waresthetic in search of sympathy votes - what did EBU do? Nothing.

Does that mean that we will FINALLY get rid of Ukraine in the contest? They are a part of a military conflict and their songs since 2016 have been extremly political and nobody is saying anything. Daniela, let’s not give the American political answer. Not agreeing with what is going on in the world? When a massacre is going on, we can’t all just watch Eurovision and forget it. Music is inherently political and unifying at the same time. So, responses to performers is really a response to that country, not the performer. The performers need to know that they will be responded to based on their country’s behavior in the world. It’s just the way it is. Also, when Eurovision says it isn’t political, we all know that is a flat out lie. They made it even more political but how they decided to be inconsistent in banning a country but not others.
