Hello from the US. I've subscribed and liked because I'm in the "gathering the resources" stage of re-entering paper model building. In 1982 I built a Dover Publishing Company Spirit of St. Louis and hauling truck combination kit. I remember the cardstock as being of very good card thickness in that no additional backing was needed. As I was just watching this video and seeing your use of various dowels, brush handles, and other sized items, I'd pause for a bit and scramble around my place for different sized diameters. I felt like I was on a Scavenger Hunt again from the 1950's! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, your Merchant Navy os progressing nicely! I’ve managed to find a few photos of cards on the net: LMS Princess Royal LNER Sandringhm LNER A1 LNWR 2-4-2 SR Lord Collingworth (Lord Nelson class?) SR Merchant Navy Quality varies, but some issues can be corrected directly on the computer (contrast, colour saturation, brightness etc.) It’s a pity no one has uploaded them as printable pdf files. I can’t imagine there would be copyright issues after all these years… if I can get access to a decent colour printer (ours at home is on the blink😢) I’m going to print one out and see. What do you use in terms of papier/card ? 120g/sq metre ?
@mindfulmodelmaker560220 күн бұрын
I print on to standard photocopy paper then seal with varnish to seal the ink then stick that to a quiet fine card don't go to thick as it will be hard to roll or bend.go thin and varnish to add strength

What scale are these made to ? Is the MN in Southern Livery ? It might even have been made pre 1948! Just did a bit of a search. Started by a Geoffrey Heighway in 1941! People used to take them into the bomb shelters during air raids for something to do that didn’t take up too much space.

Thank you for a very informative and interesting video and well presented. I am 68 years old now and I left school in 1970 and got a job with British Rail as a Junior railman or lad Porter and worked in various departments thru British Rail, then into the private sector. I like your Hornby collection and I find thee rail very interesting. The very first 00 track my dad got me when I was a young lad was the two rail with the gray plastic base. It was all second hand but i was very happy, I felt like i had won the pools. Happy days indeed. Thank you once again for a great channel and I shall be watching again. Keep safe sir. 👍🚂

Good idea! I've been starting to plan a diorama or desktop layout for industrial/Feldbahn type trains, inspired by LocoRemote's tiny trackplans and Carl Arendt's site. I've got a small set of the LocoRemote track but it takes a long time to print a few sections, so this might be a better option.

The chip is an old Hornby Zero One DCC loco decoder module. It was the world's first DCC system and was produced from 1979 until 1988. A lot of modellers, including myself, still run the old Zero One DCC system on layouts.

Love the longer videos since they allow you to show us how you do it and explain why you did it that way without having to keep an eye on the runtime. Tho you probably get more work done with the shorter videos since you won't have to make sure we can see everything etc. since we will just see the "end"product So overall a good balance between some longer videos and more shorter videos is probably the way to go.
