I know a man who was put in jail for non-payment of Child Support, and he was on prescribed methadone and xanax, but in jail was given none. Cold turkey caused a psychotic break and he ended up in a psych ward on some heavy duty psych meds, including haldol with bad side effects. They really tried to keep him. I knew about the 72 hour stay where if you stay that long a judge can say you have to remain. I helped him sign out AMA within that time frame and got him back to his doctors and back on his meds and he got better. If he didn't have my help they would have kept giving him those drugs and who knows what would have happened. People need advocates.

This literally almost happened to my brother a few weeks ago! I actually typed this in my search bar to see if anyone else had gone through this because something definitely wasn’t right. We asked them to not change his medication because it took 9 years to get a medication that worked and they said okay and changed it anyway. He literally came out worse than he was. I feel they purposely gave changed his medication so they’d have a reason to keep him. We told them he sounded fine and to release him to us and they refused. They also said that they were afraid he was in a state of Psychosis.. the same as what they said about her in this video. Crazy part is, it was a new doctor so I’m feeling like maybe he’d done this before and transferred b/c he was under fire somewhere else. Good to know people are speaking up!!
