The guided torps is painfully slow. Hopefully WG will buff the torp speeds... Because this shotgunning nerf is very bad. But still, destroyers and other warships, torp boats can still shotgun.... and lets not talk about some of the torp boats... Can launch 20+ torps in matter of seconds.

This submarine needs a buff... Since the new sub update, many of them are hard to play... Winrate have fallen down like crazy, especially the UK ones. WG should buff the homning torp speed at least... All other UK subs have at least 70+ kts torp speed while Alliance has the slowest ones... Even the conventional ones are slower than other sub torps. Very hard and painfull to play with... Iam not enjoying it at all... Ohh, subs cant shotgun anymore but fckin torp boats/destoyers/battleships/cruisers still can launch 20 torps at once, can do maximum dmg less than 3km away... IMO one of the WORST updates WG ever released.... They killed almost all submarines inside the game, and the new CV update.... They killed my mains... SUBs and CVs...

Being a Brit and preferring Historical botes, especially those still around, I got Alliance 2 days ago, I like her but the new sub play style absolutely sucks, yes I've only played co-ops (probably the worst mode) but the lack of shot gunning, the auto torp avoidance and radar guided planes that fly direct to your position and then loiter in your area just suck the life out of it, I've seen a few video's and the subs homing torps do nothing like I've seen (pre the nerf), I just stick to the 7km manual torps, which have very strange properties, killing a full strength yammy with 4 torps, whilst doing less than 100 hp to another bote within 3.1 km Can anyone at WG get anything right ?. Any tips specifically for Alliance please, I do have Baloo, Sturdy , Thrasher and U2501 (ok'ish sub player).

Really smart play versus a CV with automatic ASW. I will have to remember how he did that!

Gr vids, I'm a Brit and have just started subscribing, I've been trying to get HMS Alliance for a while and now that it's available for doubloons after watching your vids for all 3 I'm torn between the Alliance, S-189 and the I-56, I do have Baloo, Thrasher, Sturdy and U-2501, I don't play subs that much, mainly in co ops, where i normally do ok, preferring to play the Brit Subs (hate Baloo), as I like the RN's diving capacity, so which in your opinion is the best of the 3 premium subs please.

I think a way to balance torp damage during shotgunning is maybe reduce damage at 1km range only to 50%, but if you're 2km away maybe 75%, and lastly 3km back up to 100%. So you can still shotgun, but at reduced damage where you can do 5-10k damage versus 500. If at 75% you should do 7500-13k maybe. Obviously depends on the sub and torps. Just a thought.

Hmm, so no heal, crap armor, high citadel, horrible concealment and no HE to start fires and this is a strong premium to charge aggressively into battle against T10 ships?? 😂 Is WG paying you?

Thanks for revisiting this sub. After I learned how to play it better I actually do quite decent in it. It's very satisying to pull off a shotgun torp strike for 50k damage and get away undetected.

He makes it look so easy! The Paolo Emilio is a very tricky ship to play well; I know. I have one! It did help that he was top tier and none of the ships he attacked had hydro or radar.

I think they should cut the arming range to match the detection range of the torps.

I think that the Submarines had so much opposition was the fact that they could shotgun an opponent,that destroyers and cruisers had to share was blasphemy.......as they can still shotgun a target at ease,they should have made the 3km nerf with 50% reduction not as high as they have made it.

Everytime you say "Helmsman" you say you "play aggressive and get spotted". Helmsman doesn't help unless you just waste a hydro efter each time you get spotted for no reason (you already seen the enemy and the seen you). Correct usage would be to use hydro BEFORE you surface and BEFORE you get surface spotted, and then you can use the boost from Helmsman if you spot a DD nearby that HASENT SPOTTED you.

Which Premium tier 8 sub would you choose as the overall pick. I want to use the 25 percent off coupon.

Having played the U-4501, I mount the DD smoke signal as it adds 15% battery life. Compared to the Gato, the 4501 is brilliant.

I've actually spent time on HMS Opossum whilst in Gibraltar. It was her last cruise before decommissioning. I was there with the Army. Our QM Serjeant was part of the advanced party to sort accommodation out for when we arrived. He went for a drink with the senior ratings and crashed out on the Sub. The next morning he woke up, thanked the Navy for a good night and went to leave.... Only he was asked by the Captain what he was doing aboard as they were at sea. He said no they were not, the boat was not moving. The reply was that they were submerged and you did not feel the boat move underwater. He started to panic, as the rest of us were arriving that day and he had to meet us at the airport. The answer was "sorry mate, you have to stay on board for the next two weeks as they can't go back. The Captain said that he could look through the Periscope to see Gibraltar at distance. When he looked.... they were still in port. From the Captain down, they did a great wind up on him. The captain's brother was a Platoon Commander in our Company, so by the end of our stay, we all got a chance to go aboard and have a good look around
