I wonder how long would it take to slow down the moon enough for it to fall to Earth. I assume it doesn't have enough energy to spin the Earth back up and tidally lock with it while remaining at enough velocity to maintain orbit, so it should happen eventually.

Imagine how much culture and history are lost due to the sheer amount of deaths and displacement of every human on earth caused by the event which became such an important chapter of human history that the past becomes a footnote that is quickly forgotten

Dont worry, red necks are probably tolerant to the alien life support system we put on the vehicle

And what would be the max speed the ball can be thrown at, WITHOUT causing a nuke?

"The main channel of the lightning bolt (...) is about a centimeter or two in diameter. Our bundle contains about a million separate bolts, which means it will be about six meters in diameter." No? Not even close? Assuming all of them are 1cm and are (as said earlier in the video) tightly packed in parallel to each other, that means the mega lightning bolt will have a diameter of 10 KILOMETERS.

So, if you added oxy tanks and enormous radiators to a nuclear submarine you could potentially orbit safely for a while

Perhaps they could turn the reactor off or to a very low power output - they dont need all the power if they arent going to use the submarine propperels, they could also disable some unnecessary subsystems that wouldnt be used in space to save power

Thumbs down for using metric instead of the correct American measurement.

Mildly confused and curious why Randall decided to use the T-50 as the image for 'fighter jet'. Isn't American, isn't common, doesn't show up in the first page of google results for either 'fighter jet', 'fighter plane', 'maneuverable fighter jet' or 'combat aircraft'. Might be a personal choice. Or just random. I'm curious.

What if the Earth *gradually* stopped rotating? Like if some alien tractor beam applied a subtle torque that slowed the angular velocity to 0 over the course of a week, would that be survivable? What if it took a month or year?

i wonder what it's like to live in a place where thunderstorms are the norm 🤔 imagine, literally from birth, experiencing the sound of lightning basically exploding the air nearly constantly, then moving someplace where it barely thunders maybe twice a year 😲 (side note: this took me down a cool rabbithole, friends. you all should look up the science of thunderstorms ❤)

the elephant in the room is that all of those "awe inspiring images of nebular and galaxies, quasars ect" taken by Hubbel are that they are enhanced in post production. They are not the exact image as it was taken by the telescope.
