I’m so jealous! This is my dream bird, but my husband works from home and it would be just too loud. I want to rescue one when he retires.

I just got a Quaker and what i am doing is sticking my hands and arms in all their stuff Cage Perches Food bowls water bowls…. In EVERYTHING, and so far it is working.
@fruitpunch-mouthАй бұрын
yeah mine runs down at me and tries to bite me. so this might help me. yeah once he is away from the cage he is fine, but he never wants to come out on his own.... or he hides in his house and puts a bunch of food in his house. good to know that if i can get him to come out for corn... which might be harder because corn...kernals are something he covets and will also become aggressive towards hoarding corn, cause once he has it uhm yeah no one can touch it. its his now. i'd try apple slices but he will just take them from the bowl and run away.... i am going to share this with my dad because he should know about it.

Hi! Just curious, did they happen to become friends as adults or were they raised together?
@krick72472 ай бұрын
The short answer is yes, they are very loud. Not a good choice if you don’t have facilities for them or can’t handle the screeching. They require a lot of attention and care. 😉

Just watched your video for 1st time tonight. The day you picked a five year Amazon, I think it was a four year old video. I'm thinking of getting my first large parrot (long lived) . Im guessing that it will be a rest of life companion . Any input as to the Amazon suitability would be nice to hear. It wouldn't be my first parrot so I would say im at least a intermediate player in the ways of parrots.

I have a BCC. I'm wanting to make something for her to be outside. You're not worried about them chewing through the screen? Also, how did you attach the screen to the PVC? Thanks.

Only issue that I see is with the netting at ground level, snakes could get in and kill the birds!

I saw your video and felt compelled to comment even though your video is 2 years old. I am a 61 year single old fart . I have 2 Greys, 2 Conures ( Sun +Peachfront). AND........a 35 year old male Sulphur Crested cockatoo named Ikarus (Icky) I adopted him last, about 6 years ago from a older woman whose husband died. I took the parrot off her hands, brought him home. I kept him in his cage until he got use to my other parrots. My other parrots are NEVER caged. I have a 12'x30' room that I dedicated to all my parrots including 15 parrokeets. They ALL have flight feathers and come and go as they please. Yes,the room gets messy,and I sweep alot. Anyways, before I adopted Icky, My Congo Grey ,who i adopted from someone I knew. After 2 weeks my grey hung out on my shoulder,stepped up on command, a real cool parrot,rarely bit. My two conures I bought at different times from a pet store were babies and bonded to me. Especially the Sun Conure. We were very close. After Icky settled in to his new home, he almost immediately demanded my attention,and loyalty. After a short while , if I didn't give him that attention,he would make my life almost unbearable. I had a hard time with him tonight because of his extreme neediness and jealousy. This is why I watched your video. I got soooo frustrated with him, I wanted to see what other Cockatoo owners go through when they have to let go. I will tell you I feel soooooo sad that you had to make that decision. I am not yet at this point but it crosses my mind alot.I love him sooooo much. He IS my best friend, but I'm getting older,and its a real struggle now. Lol.....If I knew back then what I know now......Noooooooo way would I have parrots. When a owner tells someone that having a larger parrot is a HUGE sacrifice, THAT is a understatement . Now throw in that the parrot is a cockatoo, that sacrifice is changes to being a HUMONGOUS sacrifice. I say......DONT DO IT ! PLEASE ! Get a goldfish instead. Why ? Dont have to walk them,they make no noise, they dont poop all over the place and thee best thing about a goldfish is..... Long before you get tired of him, he dies ! Anyways, they do need loving,stable homes, they need love and attention. My opinion is these particular parrots are PERFECT for younger couples who cannot have children, don't like traveling ( don't have the finances) ,AND are avid animal lover..... Especially Lesbian couples, thats a perfect situation for COCKATOO's. When that time comes where I have to adopt my Icky to a stranger, I want thee most perfect situation. Anyway, sorry for my ranting on. I feel bad you had to do what you did and I hope your cocky is doing great in his/her new home.
