Given the cuddlefish's natural color-changing abilities, I almost wonder if you should try favrile for this ... Not sure. Just a thought.

Ok. Final comment for you today. . . I see you patterned color in both your glass and your tie-dye shirts... Check out Japanese Shibori tie-dye. It's not like American tie dye, overall. It's a little more restrained in color combinations, as you'd expect from a Japanese art form. BUT, If you, my dude, might get a real kick out of it.

I'm picking up on a slight psychedelia theme in your work. 😅😅

Hello John, if you read this ... If you have no objection, I would love to use a couple of your videos to demonstrate to undergraduate students the fundamentals of free blown glass, trailing, murrine, etc. I COULD just go to colleagues at the Corning Museum of glass. (You know how they produce a huge amount of video through their open workshops.). But you've got the skills and you've already edited down the videos to show the critical parts of the process! (By the way, I would love to have one of your pieces, if I ever get paid a proper salary.)

Art historian here. This guy has completely mastered this craft. The murrine technique itself isn't even the hard part. Before the video even started, he had to create canes upon canes in different colors, fuse them, stretch it across the studio like hot hard candy, slice it into little millefiori discs, then lay them out for the murrine tray. Then the video begins. Free blowing is fun to watch but getting that perfect shape and sensational color effects takes a lot of practice. p s. I only watched once. If I got the process wrong, he should feel free to set me right!
