Neighbor has a 8555 like that. They can really eat for a small square baler.

The 8555 is new to me. I have never seen one of those on a farm or in the field.

I was aware of their existence, but I also do not know anyone that has, or has ever had one.

I thought that was a big square baler from the design, but those look like normal squares.
@DeutzFarmer96
@DeutzFarmer96 Күн бұрын
Yeah, it is definitely a different design from the square balers i have and have used.

I genuinely like how it explained round baling that clearly. As someone who is not an expert, it was very interesting.

The good news is, the shingles actually don't look that bad, except for the ones that are missing. All the stuff that is there, actually looks pretty solid.
@DeutzFarmer96
@DeutzFarmer96 6 күн бұрын
Agreed. I'm patching the missing spots with flex seal in hopes that we wont lose any more shingles. The roof is not leaking, so if we can keep it that way until we can afford to replace the roof, that would be ideal.

Looks like some of your windows need fixing. I wouldn't hold off too long on that. Keeping the windows intact is a huge part of preserving old buildings.
@DeutzFarmer96

Yes, we are missing quite a few blocks. I managed to salvage enough to fix them, i just need to get the time to do it.

That is a huge improvement. imagine what it will look like when the whole roof is replaced and all the wood is painted. Won't even look like the same barn.

One thing to appreciate about these videos is just how much more comfortable farming has become. These cabs were a huge improvement over the tractors from the 60s and 70s, and what we have now is insane.
@DeutzFarmer96
@DeutzFarmer96 8 күн бұрын
You're not wrong about that. I am still using tractors from the 1970s, and i'm getting a little tired of how uncomfortable they are to use. I'm in the market for some newer stuff...But not too new.

I've seen a few, but that is the same experience for me. A lot of the IH fanboys in my area did not adopt quickly to the new brand.

I believe these were referred to as "Boxcar Magnums" I never knew why, nor would i care to posit a guess, but i know a certain subset of Case IH fans is obsessed with them.
@DeutzFarmer96

I have also heard them called that. not being a Case IH expert, i do not know the reasoning either, i assume it is just shape related.

Are you planning on painting the dormers as well? and then, is there any plan to paint the rest of the barn to match?
@DeutzFarmer96
@DeutzFarmer96 13 күн бұрын
Yes, i am going to attempt to paint them today. And, also yes, my plan is for the whole barn to be painted in the near future. I also want to clean up and fix the front entry and offbuilding, and also get doors built and installed for the North and South Windows as well.

Yep, that's pretty much the story for all Steiger built tractors. they are big and powerful, but not really suitable for most farming tasks.

Funny, the 2+2s were better, according to IH, in every way to standard articulating tractors...Right up until they are selling a standard articulating model.
