And tomorrow (May 17, 2024) you can all buy "Sam's Place" and hear Bonnie singing with the band (and Sam) once again.

Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Well You and I both know that the house is haunted And you and I both know that the ghost is me You used to catch me in your bed-sheets just a-rattling your chains Well back then baby, it didn't seem so strange You used to bite, I used to moan But now I'm mumbling and you choke Well I ain't so scary on my own Tell me honey, what's a dagger without a cloak? Well I don't know 'Cause You and I both know that the house is haunted Yeah, you and I both know that the ghost is me You used to catch me in your bed-sheets just a-rattling your chains Well back then baby, it didn't seem so strange In the midnight hour, you came alive I was looking for my crystal ball I busy trying to charm that snake When the sun came up we had no place to hide And you had to tell your friends that my things where fake I just had to You and I both know that the house is haunted Yeah, you and I both know that the ghost is me You used to catch me in your bed-sheets just a-rattling your chains Well back then baby, it didn't seem so strange But even when one is dead and gone It still take two to make a house a home Well I'm as lonesome as the catacombs I hear you call my name but no one's there Except a new one in the air You and I both know that the house is haunted Yeah, you and I both know that the ghost is you You used to walk around screaming, all slamming all 'dem doors Well I'm all grown up now and I don't scare easy no more But you and I both know Ooh Yeah you and I both know Ooh Yeah you and I both know Ooh Ooh

I saw this band at Max's. Little Feat did a set and then Bonnie did a few songs with Freebo. One by one the players of Little Feat joined her. By a few more songs everyone was onstage. Lowell was still alive. We went back the next night to see it again.

This rendition was given to me without any history so I don't know. I have been told that it's has to be from after Lowell passed, so after 1979.
@jareddonze40012 жыл бұрын
It’s from the Lowell tribute album released in 1997 and was recorded with the then-current lineup, so 1995-1997 I’d say.

1997. This version is with all the members of Little Feat except Lowell, of course. It’s from the tribute album Rock and Roll Doctor: A Tribute to Lowell George. You can find it on Amazon. Btw, Bonnie did not learn to play slide from Lowell, but her gear, open A tuning, and set-up was with his guidance. The old blues players were her major influence. Bonnie had a relationship with Paul Barrere of Little Feat that inspired the song All That You Dream. Prior to that she had a liason or two with Lowell, but he was married.
@charleswinokoor60232 жыл бұрын
@@rocnrolldr Thanks for the source information. And of course I knew that Bonnie Raitt was initially inspired by older slide guitar blues players like Mississippi Fred McDowell. She used to talk about it all the time years ago when she was just becoming popular on the touring circuit.

Thank you, Jim for loving it as much as I do. I was tickled when I realized this version wasn't already here. To get to contribute an essential piece of rock and roll to the living archives is one hell of an honor. (P.S. 'Pologies that it took me nine months to find your comment. I swear things sometimes play hide 'n seek until they're ready to come out.)
