So to be clear - you didn't actually have to replace the back microswitches? This whole job could have been done by fixing the front microswitch by the latch?

I'm just watching this now in 2024, but I can't see how this is a good deal. You can get a clean title 4S for $59-65k. With copart fees and that price terrible deal for a salvage.

Thank you so much for such a detailed video, what an amazing effort! May I ask how did you do to clean up the gunk inside the three smaller button sets, did you find a way to disassemble them? E.g. the auto/mono/temp button block on the right side. Thanks!

when you lower subframe, is it "required" to detach the steering joint? I have seen a couple of videos that do it.

In case anyone hasn't said it yet those little metal tabs that look like they go nowhere are used by the factory to check for water leaks during the build process (ironic I know lol) from what I remember being told they have them connected to something and if they come into contact with water then it completes a circuit and they can trace where it is leaking from. Once its passed the test instead of removing them all they just just cut all the ends off and leave them in place since they wont be seen anyway - source, I'm a former Audi tech that was told this by a mastertech

I love to hear entitled comments for a free service A Macan is barely a Porsche It shares brake parts with the Audi q5, Vw small suvs and a few others, these are common parts you can find almost everywhere that sells car parts and if you have to wait 2-3 days for shipping that doesn’t make them rare.

I have a 2013 Boxter and the dealership replaced the latch micrositch that you said fixed the issue in the video. My top originally would stop halfway and you would have to hit the button again to finish opening or closing it. It eventually failed in the down position and said it Was not in the lock position. It did not go up or down from there and we took it to the dealer. They replaced the switch. However, its still stops halfway now And then we have to hit the button again. Could the left and right pillar microswitches be causing the issue or do think the latch with the microwave switch in the top that you replaced could still be the problem.
@ThatLigarage
@ThatLigarage 11 ай бұрын
It was a while since I filmed this episode so forgive me if I’m wrong but I believe the switch my the latch detects the position the latch is in so it dosent crash in to the window pillar. If that switch is bad it will hold it back from closing all the way

I’m selling my 2002 Porsche 996 TwinTurbo on Pcarmarket There have been some performance upgrades to the OEM system and exhaust producing a little more horsepower than Factory, not sure how much more specifically, commenters on the auction site have asked if I have pinned or welded the coolant lines, which have not been done as far as I can see The car is in excellent condition with 47,000 miles on it What’s your opinion about welding or pinning the coolant lines if the car is only driven moderately and occasionally Thanks
