Great video explaining what to expect after ADR. I had my surgery almost 3 weeks ago, and the back pain in my L5/S1 level is gone. By 10 days, my buttocks started being in a lot of pain, and it goes down my right leg. My doctor had told me this was likely going to happen. We will start PT, and hopefully, in a few weeks or months, i will be 100% pain-free. I am very happy with my doctor and the surgery overall.

Thank you so much for this video. I had artificial disc replacement surgery four days ago and I’ve been in so much pain in my back. I was super worried that something was wrong, because my surgeon didn’t explain why that pain might happen, but this puts my fears to rest.

What about eating protocal immedietly after and in the following weeks? A lot of foods normally eaten are anti inflammatory, even herbal teas - should we try to eliminate these foods and if so for how long? Thanks.

Great video using easy to follow terminology very informative . Would a spinal fusion be superior to disk replacement ?

I’ve had extreme pain in my whole hand can’t even move my arms without the pain worsening. It shoots the pain all along my arms and to my shoulders. It’s only happened to me 3 times. Just randomly woke up with my hands arm and shoulder in agonizing pain. I’ll take at least 1200 mg of Tylenol and it only bearly mutes the pain. Im only 23 Im not sure what could’ve caused this. I don’t know if it’s carpal tunnel, I can’t even go to the doctor cuz I don’t have insurance. I hope this isn’t a new norm for me…

I believe I need this. 3 years ago I went to a Chiropractor. He took x-rays and said I didn't have much if any cartilage in my bottom 2 rings of my spine. At the time I didn't feel much problems in my back. I went to him for other reasons that I thought might be related to a back problem I had months earlier. Now I feel it. I can't walk more than a few hundred yards without feeling pain in my back. I have been trying to find somebody here in Colorado to perform a disc replacement but nobody seems to want to do them anymore. I guess because of customers complaining of pain after the surgery. Seems they all want to do Fusion instead. How comes this isn't a problem in Fusion surgery? Does the pain go away after a while without additional treatments as the ligaments adjust to the new discs?

You seem very knowledgeable.Where are you located (I’m in Washington State)? I am a 47 year old female in good health, and just had (about 3 weeks ago)a cervical spine disc replacement, in the c6-c7,but am feeling worse than before the surgery. Also had a hip reconstruction around 2011, and a total hip replacement around 2020 (all on the right side). I asked and asked if the two could be related, but was told no. Just searching for an honest answer. I think they are connected.

So I had one in c5/c6 woke up all my pain got after 3 months pain come back I found out it calcified and bone spurs grew around it…….and it’s close to my spinal cord….also the disc replacement did not do anything to my facet joint pain at the same level fusion does…….so it was a big mistake and I will have to have a revision surgery end of year 😢

Is this the same mechanism that causes sharp pain down between the shoulder blades after cervical disc replacement? Do you know how long it usually takes for this pain to resolve after CDR surgery? Are there exercises or stretches I can do to help improve this pain? Which muscles can you strengthen to take strain off of the stretched ligaments?

I had carpal tunnel release on both hands, about 10 yrs. apart. I had the open procedure. I went to occupational therapy for both hands, at least 15 visits each, so a long time. About once a yr. I still have wrist pain that I have to wear a brace for about 4-5 days. It has happened to both wrist at the same time. I don't know why.

I have suffered from Carpal Tunnel in both of my hands for years and nothing has even come close to giving me the kind of relieve that this taping method has. Within seconds, I could feel the tingling and numbness going away and I could feel my fingers again. I work from home by doing many different types of customized projects for individuals, and my hands are a MUST have. Thank you so much for sharing this method, it has given me back the ability to do what I love.

I’ve been having this burning sensation in my thumb while drumming the past couple years or so and it didn’t really happen before that. It’s to the point that it happens so easily that I pretty much can’t play. My right hand grip is also noticeably weaker and stiffer than my left hand. I’ve gone to this hand and wrist specialist who thinks it’s carpal tunnel but is unsure because I have no tingling or pain. It’s just in my thumb at the base as well as wrist stiffness and weakness, as well as a tiny bit of pain in my ring finger knuckle that’s constantly there but only if I touch it. I got a cortisone shot in my wrist to see if that helped and it didn’t really help. I’ve gone to a chiropractor for months… no difference. I also got an MRI that showed nothing was wrong with my neck, spine, or any nerves in that area. Any idea what this could be?

Im looking for disc replacement surgery. The pain im now would be nothing compared to ligament pain due to them being stretched. Eventually theyll stretch enough to not cause any pain.

Thats what alot of people told me. "You will be in so much pain after surgery" And I just laughed at them. They have never experienced the debilitating and crippling pain of disks pressing on your nerves. I got the surgery done 1 week ago, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to recover and get pain free right now. But its true, the post surgery pain is NOTHING compared to when your back goes out from the herniation 🤣

Very well explained. Thank you. Watching from Germany where I will have this operation soon. We can take up to six weeks paid leave off work. That's normal...if needed. After six weeks you are paid 60,%of your wage. All this doesn't depend on the work you have. Anyone is entitled to.I lived in the US for two years and will never understand the system of hurrying back to work after you are sick.or had surgery. Even with a flue we stay home for a week. I hope one day your healthcare system gets fixed for everyone in the US.
