Hey there. Insomnia so I listened to the whole vid :-) and it’s nice to hear from someone with identical interests. Great job posting. Focus is good. So much stuff to work on, hopefully book 3 will keep it fun. Fun is important! Great about your hands. Are you listening to lots of gj as well? That can help feed the motivation and enjoyment, if you listen to things that really get you going.

You’re doing great, you’re playing Django’s lines. I hear some Georgia brown lines. Now why don’t you add your own flare, passing tones scales , your own blues lines.

@@justadudepracticing You've got it in you already, I mean those major lines you're playing, with a solid technique and execution, just start changing the rhythmic structure on the exercise you're doing. Like in one bar, change the Rhythm completely, then the next bar add chromatics, the next bar, maybe play a blues line connected, etc. I personally feel you're ready for that, and, I think you're ready to work specifically on the songs you wanna play at jams. Work on one song at a time, get down your intros, endings, and start composing solos, intertwined and made up of what you have in the book combined with scales. The Harmonic minor scale gets big milage in gypsy jazz, and you should know how to descend/ascend with lines from all across the fretboard. Based on what I've seen you doing, you will be there in one year or less if you keep it going. I have been playing guitar for 47 yrs. I didn't start woodshedding with gypsy jazz until COVID. I'm on yr 4 now, and I'm finally there, and I played jazz before gypsy jazz, but I had stopped playing seriously for yrs, and basically lost all my flow, and I could NOT improvise and sound good in gypsy jazz? My problem was, I was sounding way too bluesy, and not jazzy swing blues, it was way too Kenny burrell style, I was heavily into Joe Pass, so when Covid came, I recorded two of his songs note for note, just as an exercise, to get my chops back. That took like month's to do, and it was that, that got me into Gypsy Jazz. The problem I'm having now is, I can't find any jams in my city, or serious players. I can't even find a luthier here in my city that knows how to even work on my guitars? nd I live in Toronto Ont? I myself am still not where I want to be AT ALL. I mean I have SO MANY songs to memorize. This music demands SERIOUS study and work, and I'm doing it. I haven't bought Christians books, which I'm SURE are EXCELLENT. Thankfully, I have always been able to learn things myself, I mean I had to I came from the old school. I'm on facebook, but I've only posted myself playing walt'z, I LOVE the walt'z, so I learned La Gitane, and Django's waltz. Good stuff, stay inspired, and Keep going. If you have the time to put in, and the inspiration I say YOU personally will be ther in one year, jamming, I say 10 choice picked songs. Good luck.

19:30 sounds like intonation problem... there's a floating saddle on your guitar, I think you could maybe set it by yourself - just compare fretted notes on 12th fret with harmonics on 12th fret and they should match or be as close as possible. If not, you need to move the saddle forward or backward.

Hi Dude' its inspiring to see your dedication and commitment to the gypsy jazz style, well done for that, any progress is better than doing nothing. Your not alone, despite practising for many years (at least 3hrs a day) i been struggling with this style and feel like I've only scratched the surface. having watched a few of your daily practice videos sadly they only capture my attention for a short while before they become monotonous, if you gave a little detail and mentioned what it is your learning at any given time, i think this might engage the watcher and allow them to learn with you and may increase your watch count! am eager to see your outcome using the Van Hermet System? keep going at it bro 👍🎶

Thank you! Three hours! Impressive. I'm pretty burnt out after two. Thanks for checking out the videos. They're not really meant to be watched (although feel free, of course). Part of the reason I started uploading was to show what practice can look like - monotony, endless repetitions, slow gains. I always find motivation in seeing other people work on things (like study-with-me channels). It helps me to combat the misguided feeling that learning and results should be quick.

It makes sense. My videos aren't the kind of thing you sit and watch. They're literally just me practicing. I don't teach, I talk to the camera once a month, I'm playing a niche genre, and I rarely upload a "finished product." The original idea behind the channel was to have a complete and raw record of my progress so I never expected to get many subs.
