This was so helpful!! Thank you! I’m going to be handling my 16 month old Great Dane in my first show (his second) at the end of July in the AOH classes. I feel like a fish out of water and I’m a bit nervous but also excited. I’m so glad I found these videos so I can watch and rewatch as I need to.

So, what’s your point? It wasn’t about stacking perfectly but showing people how to go through the motions. When you do your video you can go ahead and stack your dog perfectly. I do these to help people, I get nothing for it, so you do t get to criticize

lm glad ear cropping and tail cropping whitch is nothing more than legalized animal abuse is banned in my country and in many other civilized countries , they are done only for the looks if you want a dog with those kind of ears get a german sheppard who has them naturnally

Ali Raza it all depends on a number of factors. The taller the crop generally the longer you have to post. Also a dog with thicker ear leather will stand faster than a dog with soft leather. Some dogs stand as early as a month Others can take up to a year. Just really depends

I am pro-cropping but this whole routine is pointless. Cropped ears heal just fine if kept clean, dry, and left alone. There is NO need to scrub raw edges or pick at scabs while the puppy cries. Barbaric and gives a bad name to cropping.

Justin please help! How do you clean ear? I was using alcohol but puppy seemed to he in pain and then peroxide ( I was being told to do this) I decided to leave it alone all togethet because it seemed to get irritated, what do I do? Thanks 🙏

It's not merely cosmetic, it's functional. Cropping ears helps with sound location. All non domestic dog breeds (such as foxes and wolves) have standing ears. People who show their dogs and breed them should respect and adhere to the breed standard. If you do not intend to respect the breed standard or seek to improve the breed by selective and responsible breeding you should have our dog spayed or neutered. Ear cropping is done under anesthesia. It doesn't feel good afterwards, but no surgery does. In many of the breeds you see with cropped ears it is common for that breed to suffer ear infections. Cropping allows for better air circulation and helps keep excess moisture from building up that may cause many painful ear infections for the dog. Having your dog spayed or neutered isn't comfortable after the surgery. However in most cases it is better than allowing the animals to breed freely, causing overpopulation and inbreeding.
