This is by far the hardest dungeon in the game except maybe the ice ruins It is also an extremely cool dungeon where you have to use my favourite item in the game, so naturally it was the first one I ever did! Yay 😢

Experiencing this game again was the main reason I got 3D All Stars. It’s been eight years since I collected the last power star and finished a two year journey through a game that holds a special place in my heart as one of the first Mario games I played. This song gives me chills.

What I love about this theme is that, unlike the usual boss theme feeling like constant encouragement to keep fighting and win (For crying out loud it’s called Never Let Up), this one feels… hopeless. You’ve reached the end of your journey, hope is dead, you’re practically fighting a god with how souped up Bowser’s become. *But you keep fighting anyways*
