I think the mechanic put mine in with the arrows pointing up, i turned on the AC and the strong flow and air seems stifled and muffled. Yikes.

I use them on my race car. Unless it;s a road car and exposes to rain, salt and mud, it has almost zero maintenance. I ran plumbing brush through and removed some material for better sliding.

Looks like the rubber lines you replaced are not very long. One side was only a few inches and the other 6-8? More important is the just slip over some metal fuel lines and secure with hose clamps.

My tensioner uses a torx tool to release the belt, not a hex tool. Are you sure yours is a hex? If not, you'll round it out.

No Debate. The flange goes outboard(towards the rotor), the Circlip goes inboard(towards the back of the caliper) If done the other way, the Circlip likely will get punched out as the caliper uses this ridge to push out when sliding across the guide pin.
@crherniman
@crherniman 2 жыл бұрын
I've seen them done both ways now. I bought a set from Garagistic and I looked at their video on here and it looks like thr clip is on the inside of the caliper by the piston. That's how I installed. Now I'm not so sure. Fck.
@JohnFaire
@JohnFaire 2 жыл бұрын
@@crherniman @crherniman no, no, no. Good thing they're not press fitted. Take them out, clean them, and switch them to where the circlip goes behind the rotor. If you could, please link the video from gargastic for us to compare. If there's a problem, I'd like to contact them about this. ... OMG, I just saw the garagistic video I think you're talking about. That video doesn't show an install, but it does show that it's installed wrong. I could see them saying - hey, let the new guy do this video because we want him to think we're cool, but really we're too busy to do it ourselves, and that's what we saw. Garagistic is a small business, low budget. Camera guy is probably a friend. I've been to their shop twice before, and they seem like they are trying to be cool, kinda like the volcom of aftermarket parts for bmw. Both times, they weren't ready for walk-in customers, and showed like they were really ready to do business... I'm going to call them about this video. They make good stuff. Their welder and machinist are very talented. They make beautiful peices, like their adjustable solid and non-solid shifters. But, it is possible that they totally overlook things form time to time. Anyway, there are 3 videos, with a forth, you could look up on yourself on ecs tuning, where there's is actually press fit, and even still they install it the way I'm tell you because of risk of loosing the fitting. Try to imagine if the circlip fails, where would you want the bushing to be - on the car making your brakes act weird, or the bushing slips out and falls off the car, potentially making you have no brakes at all. You should fix that right away. Here are the videos kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nMepnLmnvLS5f2w.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqx6Y7qgzJa3laM.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e514ZsmezL_FhWQ.html

If I have a supercharger on my e36, does that change the type of oil I should be using?
@stevewarren4560
@stevewarren4560 3 жыл бұрын
With a boosted engine, whether boosted by a turbocharger or a supercharger, I would use the best pure synthetic oil you can get. Your supercharger manufacturer might have recommendations for a apecific oil, especially if the superchareger is connected to the engine's oiling system.

Yep, AND the expansion tank. I replaced all 4 of mine as soon as I bought my E36. I am going to delete the plastic clutch fan next with an electric one. It will move more air, be more reliable and free up about 3-5hp. Its not a matter of if these plastic parts will fail, its when.
