The problem is it's replacing a hammer, and a electric hammer will never be as durable.

My dad still has a very similar Polish (working) drill from that era (likely built under Soviet licence). Interesting video. Love the humor too. SUB'd

You should film a found footage horror movie there and rebuild using the proceeds. Your kids are going to love the Kenworth truck

Interesting it says Made in USSR on the chuck, in English, not CCCP in Russian. And yes, as an American trying to learn Russian... just pass the Vodka. Drill was made in 1976, maybe November, 220 Volt, 1,6 amp. Rest is hard to read. And B in Russian is our V.

I work at Medtronic and I see lots of different bone screws all the time. Some much larger and expensive that this one. I’ve unpacked a pallet of spine screws worth over $1.5 million. This video is not surprising.

Love your videos. Had to comment on this one, because I have a similar story, if somewhat reversed. As a 16 year old (1996), my dad helped me buy an '85 Firebird. I had trouble with it passing smog but revving it in the parking lot of the inspection place fixed that. As an idiot 16 y/o, I nearly wrecked it numerous times, and was finally successful by slamming it into a wall trying to take a turn too fast. My uncle, who sounds a lot like yours, bought it off of us because he knew he could fix the front-end damage for cheap with ubiquitous junk yard parts. He got it back to 100% again and loved that car. He too lived a hard, but party-filled lifestyle after a bad marriage sent him down the other path. He was the black sheep of the family, but I always liked him. He drove that Firebird until the day he died, far too young, for being hard-headed and not taking care of himself. RIP to all those crazy uncles that danced to their own song, likely coming out of a Pontiac down by the beach.

The reality is that everything produced under communism is worse, everything costs much more, is produced without any care, and technology will quickly become outdated without investments from the free market system. Compare with a post-war German or Japanese tool, or even a Brazilian one. Old Brazilian tools, in addition to being designed without planned obsolescence, still had an indispensable requirement: electrical efficiency. Since the country's electrical grid was precarious, all Brazilian electronics needed to be efficient to function correctly without creating a fire.

Products made in 50-60-s are better in general. You can not compare durability of modern tools with that of past. In Soviet Union there were lots of "easy to maintain in a field" products. USA had more luxury products with maintenance shop required.

Excellent video, I wish everybody did videos like this to the point without a lot of extraneous content. Although everything was helpful, the most helpful to me was the way you pressed the bushing out in the attachment bracket. I think you should do a video lasting about 30 seconds explaining this in caps “before you change your 11 through 17 Odyssey alternator watch this video.” I believe he would save 100s of hours of peoples lives lol. Also, I think you get a Bajillion hits quickly

If i remember right this won innovation awards and all other kinds of accolades in a tool show several years back. As a tool guy just laughed as i think the guy invented it didnt plan on it being just a fatherday gift on end cap at big bix stores. Prob got paid enough to not even care at that point. Atleast i hope he did...
