Old G-era player here. Why don't folks use forerunners, like OG Chrono Dran in premium, or at least in this list?

I love this deck. One of my favorite things to do is if they guard early and have 1 damage I just stride and swing geomaglass for 5 damage and make them stuck at 1 damage or bank on a heal trigger.

regarding 5:13 There are unique gyze ultimate stride conditions in the comprehensive rules under 6.6.3.3. The Gyze player has to be on G3 to ultimate stride (but doesnt care what grade the opponent is) Gyze does not need 3 face up g units in gzone unlike regular zeroth ultimate strides (It's condition is 5 face up zeroths in bind)

Much Love for the kind words Dev, I definitely agree about killing Nui. It's such an oppressive force strictly off of the back of the Shojodoji engine. I think Izasaou needs to be banned from standard in general, it being able to grab the Perfect Guard from the Nui deckset since it has Stealth in name is unhealthy overall. Let's not forget Shojodoji's world's performance, and the fact that it's getting very good DZ support. The Dragon Empire OT is also very oppressive in Nui, turning 7 attacks into 10 is not kosher. I'm not just saying that as an excuse to flex my Red OT, I'm in the right and you know it. 😈

I'm not actually sure that crests are OP in Standard. Not anymore at least. The first stride you get..... 5k to the front row. That's it. That's not crazy. Second stride you get....... 10k to the front row typically. That's just persona ride power, that's not overpowered at all. It's only once you get the third stride that the crest really becomes a ton of power to the front row. Honestly, the one problem I see is that Shiranui got a ton of restanders. 7 attacks is an outlier in Standard. Very, very few decks do 7 attacks and Shiranui gets to do it as soon as it strides. Not to mention the crazy early game it has because of the shojodoji engine and shenri.

Love what you were trying to do with these videos but they don't exactly help anyone at the "101" level. This felt like the stereotypical yugioh deck profile of "this is what I run cause it's good". Could you maybe try going a little more in depth with these videos? Explain the main combo and the key card interactions, explain what the deck is trying to do for people brand new to premium and trying to pick up a clan they enjoy or for the Standard players break down how the clan functions as this would be all new territory compared to the nation's.

So, I have a few criticisms about the two competing lists in question, and I'd like to posit some alternate ideas. Fully, this is intended as constructive criticism as well, so all this is said with good intent, just to preface. Additionally, Gear Chronicle is also a very unique clan with a lot of different card combos, just by virtue of how many different identities the clan has had over the years, so I don't think any list is solved or "correct", a lot of it can come down to pilot preference. Cool? Cool. Personally, I would utilize the structure of the 714K list, also developed by Dave Vecht, which has a number of alterations compared to your SM list. The only change I'd make is adding in Elementaria Sanctitude over one of the draw PGs, and adding either a Heart Thump or Bombard Hog, based on how much CB you utilize when piloting the deck. It has more forward pressure because it runs the G4 Time Leaper Dragon, which you can utilize to usually pop off between 5-6 attacks (RG, RG, Time Leaper, botdeck, call Alalngar, swing, botdeck, call something else, and allows you to immediately call Entarana if need be), all for just 1 CB, and you still have two Gifts by the end of the turn, which is exactly what Lost Age does, and it means you don't have to sit on a lower power number for your opponent's first Stride turn. He also elects to run 4 Heal Guardians, which makes more sense given the very aggressive T3 meta HisCol has created, and because you'll usually be on Shlishma during Stride turns, so Elul and the CC from Uluru isn't as imperative as it is in V format. Vecht also runs Groovy (which should also be in the Time Leap deck, we'll get to that in a moment), and Strides like Nextage in case you run into Chaos or Gredora and need a VG-centric strategy to switch into. It also runs Gallmageheld/Vamfrieze, since Blue/Red OT don't actually synergize with how Gear Chronicle's attack patterns function. As for the Time Leap list, the biggest change needs to be Groovy. In tandem with Crest, Groovy can have you hit +35k to front row by 2nd Stride, and can use two Gear Dragons at once. Most of the time, you'll be going into Lost Age for the setup, since Crest prevents V Jet from doing his thing, and then whatever other Gear Dragon you want to copy. Grogrock is much less useful unless you really want the extra Force Gifts, but Crest power really takes care of all of that for you anyways. I've developed two variants, 9CGK and 6TN5S; 6TN5S runs Ribbul for value and grades to board, Lishma for a self-Leaper (since most Time Leapers are contingent on having other units on board, having it Leap itself can be useful in situations where you want to keep a lighter board), La-ba'shim for a searchable PG against DP or any other heavier hitting clan, and Tick-away Dragon for the Groovy turn, which can refuel triggers into deck at a ridiculous rate in tandem with History-build's full-board simultaneous Time Leap. Irkab and Zayed both are cards that really shouldn't be played in Premium; Time Leap builds already have a lot of VG pressure because of Nextage and Crest, and Irkab isn't actually giving you any plus, so you'll want to spend CB on other things, and Zayed's SC skill can't be used, and you'd rather spend Soul on cards like Kurunta or Heteroround, both of which are very important for combo breaking against Granblue or Pale Moon. The former variant, the 9CGK actually doesn't use Ribbul, and instead focuses on the Melem/Tick Tock/History-maker loop for value (swing Melem, call Ur-Watar, swing History-maker, call Melem, swing, call TT, and then you can splice what your VG, usually Shlishma or History-build for maximum RG extension, into the loop to reset it, and you've only spent a single CB via History-maker), and has possible defensive combos with G Dran if you run Raphan'na over Dust or RTM Uluru (G1 and G3 on board, guard with Raphan'na, call G Dran, guard with Bearlock, bind G Dran and G3, call G3 from G Dran's skill, guard with Bearlock again), which are worth considering for the +15k they can grant to front row. It's less useful in the current control meta, but it's definitely very potent against a lot of clans who don't have the same level of board clearing, or just against players who don't know what to expect. The TLDR for the Time Leap list is: Cut Grogrock, Pandora Chimera, and TME Uluru, and run Groovy + something else in their stead (my vote would be a second Heteroround). In main deck, cut Zayed, Irkab, Chronotooth, and possibly Ribbul, and run Alalngar (who can extend and provides additional Crest consistency) instead, alongside Kurunta and whatever techs you prefer. Cut Kadash and a Kastilia, replace with Apazu (Stride crit), and run Gallmageheld over Idosfaro (Gallmageheld is a perma-crit, so if you check him early, Nextage becomes a 38k/2C swing, and Jet is a 23k/2C swing, with 5 drive checks total, and every other VG attack is much deadlier for the rest of the game, whereas Idosfaro is really just a crit and recursion that isn't necessary). Additionally, per the math that my group has run, Crest is 93% consistent (it does require you to mulligan like a crackhead, but the benefits outweigh the risks), so I believe it to be the current best Gear Chronicle variant over SM, but it's obviously more expensive and is a bit more complex than looping Entarana via Shlishma, and SM arguably has better matchups into some of Gear Chronicle's worst matchups, so there's an argument to be had for running SM over Time Leap competitively. You also mentioned stacking Force Gifts; Time Leap wants to do the exact opposite: Go Force II and split the Gifts. Crest completely nulls the need for Force I, Force II gives you way more pressure and can open up damage denial strategies because of the sheer volume of attacks. There are a lot of other techs and mini-combos as well, you can Leap something into Upstream, swing, call Lishma, swing VG, SB1, Leap into Upstream and call a G1 booster or plus piece/booster like Gigi or Fat Cat (depending on how many Melem you run/if you run Entarana in Time Leap); you can utilize Chronojet G in tandem with Grogrock for VERY large VG swings (in the ballpark of 40k+/60k+ swings if used under Groovy); G Dran can be utilized for mid-game rerides and Soul generation, or doing nonsense like Leaping Nabu via Tick Tock (Nabu's skill still allows you to draw a card, and you can place a G3 on board for extension into Shlishma if you have the spare Soul). These other strategies very much are reliant on how you tech Gears, but they are important interactions to know about, and depending on your style of play, can very easily catch an opponent off-guard, especially if you change techs constantly or don't stick to a consistent style of play. I should also note that while Maidens tends to be more xenophobic, there's a lot of stuff that's still useful outside the Maiden engine, and you can cross-tech between the lists fairly easily as long as you understand the interactions. Anyways, this is already way too long, but I'm always happy to talk specific points about Gears, so I am happy to answer any questions or argue alternate points of view. I hope this helps somewhat for fine-tuning the lists, and offers some alternate avenues of play for ya, or at the very least, food for thought :]
