Rehabilitation is such a long process. This is most likely an estimation of 3 years just to get back to her feet. Maybe 5 after stroke.......

Okay now this comment just gave me some hope. Thank you for that! Mom had a stroke almost 2 years ago and she's immobile and mute. She's not making any progress whatsoever but fingers crossed 🤞

@@TaciturnALIgator prayers for your mom. Just let her know that she's loved and not a burden. I was the ultimate Alpha female and rehabilitation and the slow progress is very frustrating. On top of the fact that you feel helpless. Feeling loved goes a long way.

As an ex-client from STEPS, I can only support the use of this type of technology to help people to be able to walk again. I wish I had that type of help whilst I was learning to walk again initially, but this is a fantastic device that will really help people who have had Severe injuries. If this helps people getting back on their feet again, and help to walk again, this investment will pay dividends in the future for the quality of peoples lives.

When the adventure (it really is an adventure) of the hospital stay and the rehabilitation (Steps) is over, and the dust settles down, and the reality of your situation sinks in, what are you going to do? That's when (morbidly speaking mixed with a good portion of sarcasm) the fun starts.

When I was finally released after my accident and brain surgeries I had no assistance but crawled my way back up the ladder despite the efforts of the pill pushers to keep me as an inmate somewhere. Said I wouldn't walk or work again and to go on government handouts. Perhaps you should let the patients get angry, it was a good motivator for me.

I do hope this can reach more people in similar situations where i can help others and show that there's always a way and a chance to be better than before, In tough choices, it was never easy but is it in any situation. I just hope I can help others as much as steps and everyone else has helped me.

Hey! Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm hoping to expand mental health supports for traumatic injuries in my doctoral research. If you have time or interest in sharing more about your experience. I would be so appreciative of 30 min of your time and your participation. Sending you all the best.
