who is the breeder of the irish wolfhound? Both beautiful dogs.
@wesleysnipes77049 жыл бұрын
A Mastiff would not take down an Irish Wolfhound. They are far more athletic, flexible, stronger, and MUCH faster. They're more like a cougar when it comes to a fight. 95% of Wolfhounds are the kind you'll see in this video and make great pets, but I've seen others that were trained to guard and they're most certainly at the top when it comes to dogs.

Irish Wolfhounds are amazingly gentle. It's as if it knows it could destroy the Doberman!

The Irish Wolfhound is a magnificient breed. I would rate the breed as the most powerful of dogs in physical strength and endurance. But the breed is lacking courage and fighting instincts and is too lazy. The IW is a poor guard dog and non-aggressive and not even fit in fighting wild animals in guarding properties despite its enormous strength. A donkey is better worth keeping than keeping an IW. Useless breed.
@rajeshk676610 жыл бұрын
Hey, any mastiff or any other large breed of dog can beat an IW. Do you have any proof of IW's strength?
@bobdown521110 жыл бұрын
Yeah I do. They were used to drag wounded soldiers from battle fields in WW1. They weren't bred to fight other dogs dummy, they were bred to hunt wolves. They are sight hounds FFS. Go and look up Bally Shannon the Wolfhound.

wolfhounds may be descendants of warhounds, but warhounds main purpose was to knock enemy soldiers off their horses and knock soldiers down and also chase wolves. unlike pitbulls and rots who were bread to fight each other.

The only problem with Irish wolfhounds is their lifespan is too short. You grow very attached only to have them pass at 8 years old, my best friend had one who died at 7 . A shame he was the largest,most gentle, albeit a little clumsy at times dog I have ever been around, even more gentle then goldens or labs

That was really sweet to see as 2 dogs playing. All dogs including Rotties (Sorry cant spell it) are all good but it is when some Ass Hole gets them & half of these A holes security train them through neglect & abuse. Treat a dog with love & affection then the dog will be the best & most loyal friend you will ever have. Get a dog as a faithful companion not as a means of security.

A young dog have to be a little bit less weight than ideal, because she has to be develop, and if she has overweight, her bones, joints gone deformed!!! I'm a vet, and I know exactly this, I saw a lot of young dogs with full pain in his/her bones because of the overwight and too much food. Now she is almost 35 kg, absolutely normal weight.

She is full european bloodline: father Phelwan Pedro del Citone mother Hungarian top dog, grand daughter of Graaf Quirinus van Neerlands Stam. And she is ONLY 15 months in the video. So you have to change your glasses please!

Yeah, and if you have interacted with Dobermans in real life then you know they are really big dogs. I'm 6'5" and my neighbor's Doberman intimidates me. And I'm not easily scared by dogs. It's a sweetheart and well trained, but when you walk up his front lawn and see that thing sitting there watching you, it sends a shiver up your spine.
@MercC23k11 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how anyone who has ever even owned a dog could consider this to be dog fighting. They are clearly playing, and having a good time. My collies play this way with each other, and they are the sweetest, least violent dogs I know. Plus wolfhounds aren't used for dog fighting because they aren't built for it. They are coursing hounds, not brawlers like a Rot or GS.

what the dogs did for tousands of years ago does not say that much about the breed today, spec not when the wolfhound had to be mixed with other races in 1800:s that the breed would not die out! As owner and breed enthusiast i tell you that i never in my life dealing with wolfhounds in dogshows or in activities with the Irish wolfhound club of Sweden met a single Wolfhound that was one bit aggresive! They are NOT attack dogs, And should never be trained as such! this video is just playing tho

If you do in this way (you see in this video), I think 1 months will be enough. It's important that the dog should know where is her/his right place on your left leg.

Not even close. The hounds the modern breed was resurrected from were originally war-dogs, and guardians. The "wolfhound" name came from their original name "cú" which could be translated as hound, Irish Hound, War-Dog, or Wolf-Dog. All that non-sense about wolves evolved much later than the breed. They are well documented in Roman literature, as well as the sagas of ancient Celtic, and Norse lore as war-dogs. But hell, you read wikipedia and are an instant expert, eh?

from experience of having irish wolfhounds they are the most daft happy go lucky big dogs around mine was just a big softie, give him a biscut and hes your friend for life. they are great with kids even if they are a little clumsy and knock the kids over.
