Per chi ha vissuto que tempi non c'è di meglio. Intendo dire il periodo del dopoguerra con le sue difficoltà economiche, ma tanta buona volontà e oserei dire, tanta fratellanza e poca o niente cattiveria. Se fosse possibile, farei di tutto per ritornare a quei tempi, ma, mi rendo conto che non si può!!!!

No, it's not foolproof one bit. The operator must maintain a consistent speed for the right thing to be heard on the other end. The operator here paused on one or two making the audible number wrong. When he dragged through 7, he paused, making it sound like 8. His 8 sounded like a 9. It's much easier to produce consistent code using an actual key.

@@dentarinc7214 NK7B here -- I agree 100 per cent that this "cute" device is NOT foolproof. I am a 100 per cent CW operator, 61 years in ham radio now, and I found the sending definitely flawed.

@@dentarinc7214 That should indeed be the case when sending text and numbers in the same message. As you know numbers are always build out of 5 signs, so a pause does not result in hearing an 'm' (two dashes) or an 's' (3 dits) etc because the receiving party probably always expected numbers. Think of numberstations.

Couldn't you use rotate the needle that keeps track of the max force ? Then rotate it back to zero to measure the other side?
