We usually watch the eyes of the underneath coverage. Are they watching the wr or running to a spot.

I listened to this right after I interviewed and hired our 5th coach on our staff. I checked all the boxes and even stated he wants to move on to a head coaching job and wants to start somewhere. All of this was started at my daughters softball teams cookout when a fellow father struck up a conversation! Anyway, great podcast at the perfect time. Your videos and your responses to my emails have shaped me as a coach to be a beacon in our community. Kenny, like i said last year, I believe I am developing an Arkansas accent with the amount of content of yours I consume with these podcasts! Thank you guys

Coach I want to see you guys play teams in South Florida. Like Central, Northwestern, Norland, Columbus, St. Thomas, or IMG. I would like to see how that offense works vs D1 high school players who are big fast and can hit.
@kennysimpson6282Ай бұрын
I'd imagine if you had the same players on offense it would look the same as it does now...
@TheCoach5757Ай бұрын
I was just curious how it would look. We don't see that type of offense down here in South Florida. Maybe you should call those schools and have a friendly challenge. Maybe you could introduce that type of offense down here.

how do you deal with a defender that is head up on a player that is supposed to down block? does he have the head up defender or is that responsibility for the next down blocker?
@kennysimpson62822 ай бұрын
We would not block that defender as the player outside of us would take him.

Coach, is it possible to RPO the playside ILB who is blitzing & have either the wing (or TE) step down like he's blocking for the first few steps but catch the pass similar to peak on the backside? Thanks

Yes it would - would need to be aware of the Safety

Any suggestions for how to simplify for A) 5th grade, and B) even more simple for 3rd/4th grade. Obviously, fewer sets, less pulling and less passing, but anything else?
@kennysimpson62825 ай бұрын
Usually we would limit reads for the QB, limit formations and may limit or eliminate pulling depending on the age. But other than that we see what they can do.

Than You. Coach Simpson. Best and prescise explanation of offence types I have ever heard. Very clear & helpful. The modern day zone scheme is very food, but I grew up in the, gap system. Early zone blocing schemes were too simple, thus useless. Current day zone schemes are very well designed,. Thanks again for explaining these difference to a long time footballer. Good joh, keep up the good wor, .. Iyou are organized and clear; the chariteric that make a coach great - LK.

I run the wing T with my youth team and am looking to install some zone blocking scheme this year now that they are older and more experienced. Have you incorporated zone blocking into your standard plays? For example, we run a 24 power with the FB lead blocking (we use "power" to let the kids now there is a lead blocker) and it seems to me you can use zone blocking even though the play is designed for a specific gap. Or would this just simply an inside zone play call?
@kennysimpson62826 ай бұрын
Usually zone is not with a designated hole, they would need to read the gap that opens up.
