Honestly. I think Leslie Nielson could have been a decent Messala. It's just that he never stood a chance against Stephen Boyd. The latter absolutely nailed the role!

Is it just me or does anyone else notice how Neilsen keeps his back to the camera the entire scene? Also the tone is SO much different than the final cut. Glad these two didn't get the part.
