I love this movie and a few years back I spent some years time to identify racetracks true identity. We all know he was a real person but no one has yet to truly identify him, although a few claim to know but I have seen no one with definitive proof. I've seen some people say Antonio Higgins and others say Ed Higgins, but . Using just the paper-trail, I was able to find a Thomas Higgins listed as a "News Pape Agent" living at 1018 Avenue A in Manhattan in the 1900 US Census. On March 24th, 1902 a Thomas Higgins (not 100% sure if the same person as in the Census), who is listed as a newsboy living at the Metropolitan Lodging House, contracted Smallpox and was moved to a hospital. He died on March 2nd, 1912 from tuberculosis, buried in National Cemetery, occupation listed as News Dealer.

I would say he is just direct and demisexual, haha. He doesn't hold anything in the world in the same regard as other people but that does not mean he doesn't have feelings or desires. He just goes about things in different ways. He can only love someone who he admires and has a bond/connection/understanding with. But that's just the thing. For someone like him, there aren't many people in the world he admires. Et voilà. He obviously knew Molly liked him but do we all reciprocate when someone likes us? Does nobody pretend to not notice because we don't want to hurt someone unnecessarily? Or in Sherlock's case, people like that he keeps around if they can be of use to him. But with Molly he truly did end up appreciating her and her love for him. Not reciprocating but grateful for it. And with The Woman, it was love at first interaction. He couldn't analyse her and that was probably the first time something like that happened to him. That pulled him in and interested him. That she knew how to throw him off. And then when she opened her mouth and outsmarted him a few times, he was majorly impressed. He stumbled over his words only in her neighbourhood. Not because she was a dominatrix. Not because she was intimidating. He liked her. And, therefore, cared if she liked him. Anyway, people with extraordinary intelligence are known to have a hard time connecting romantically with someone as that tends to require being on the same line/page with one another on multiple areas and for someone as unique as Sherlock, I think even he would have established that finding someone like that would be nearly impossible. 0,0000001% probably in his head. So how would you approach life then? Knowing that? He doesn't like boring and he knows people he doesn't connect with but want to be connected to him in that way are only going to waste his time. And what annoys him? Wasting time. Being bored. So he also gets snappy towards people who want to show him love but he knows there will never be anything flourishing from that. But he was anything but that towards The Woman. He had found the gem he never thought he would ever find. It was a beautiful thing to see. But the reality for many highly intelligent people is that they will not be as lucky.

However I also ship Johnlock (please no judgement everyone is entitled to their own ships) and so may I present to you... Homo-Demi-Romantic Asexual Sherlock! You don't have to agree it is just an idea so that I can imagine Sherlock as part of the AroAce spectrum and a part of Johnlock!

I think a lot of us are misunderstanding her character - we are forgetting she remarks she's gay to John at one point. I think both Sherlock and Irene are queer, one aroace/aroace-spectrum and the other either a lesbian or bi. Both aren't actually interested in one another, they have an interest in one another's intellect but are /both/ playing the game, in a fun flirting for the thrill type of way. I loved their dynamic, both in show and in the book

@@bevinbrand4637 That's not what John was asking though. And not what Sherlock answered. And why would Angelo think John was Sherlock's date if he didn't already know Sherlock was gay?
@bevinbrand46374 ай бұрын
@@druidriley3163 I'm not 100% following your train of thought here, so here's my interpretation of the scene in question. Sherlock expresses a lack of interest in girlfriends which John picks up on and then gently probes the idea the idea that if Sherlock is gay then he's fine with that and it's not going to be an issue with rooming together. The roundabout way that John phrases it, "which is fine, by the way," is not a direct statement that he thinks Sherlock might be gay and Sherlock answers the literal statement, that he knows being gay is fine, and his facial expression indicates that he's confused as to why John's bringing it up. As he puzzles it out, he comes to the conclusion that John is asking because he (John) is gay and trying to see if Sherlock is interested, hence the rather kind by Sherlock standards refusal, "I'm married to my work." John picks up on the assumption and interrupts, trying to say that that's not his intent with the question, he's just saying that Sherlock being queer isn't an issue for him. Sherlock seems relieved that the conversation is over and goes back to things he's more comfortable with. The takeaway being that neither of them are gay and this was a misunderstanding that serves to illustrate how confusing Sherlock's lack of interest in dating is to people. Angelo's assumption that Sherlock having dinner with someone means it's a date is a common one, as two people dining alone together tends to be perceived that way. Sherlock isn't bothered by it because he's probably used to it and he doesn't care that most people make assumptions based on their preconceived ideas about social norms. The scene is all about assumptions other people make that aren't true.
@SMKears5194 ай бұрын
@@druidriley3163 You're assuming. You're making an assumption based on your reading of what was going on (also happens to be what Angelo was doing, and what John was doing before Sherlock corrected him). People in this comment section are making an assumption based on our understanding that he's aroace You don't have more valid proof that the character is gay than people who think he's aroace do. You're welcome to enjoy your own queer headcanon- please go have fun! But policing other queer people (especially in other marginalized groups) isn't really cool

I know I'm a year late to the party. But I just wanted to comment that I really enjoyed your video. Except, I'm always ready to fight people who complain Harry is whiny in book 5. Come on... he is suffering PTSD from watching a classmate die, watching the literal rebirth of Adolf Hitler / the devil. The ministry and the newspapers are making it their mission to discredit him constantly aaaand he is freaking 15 years old. Teenage angst galore. Book 5 is my favorite. Book 6's plot is "know thine enemy", it's vital to the series.

Remember this was legit my first time consuming Harry Potter content so I don't have the rose-colored nostalgia glasses. While you have a good point that it's fair that he's whiny, he is still whiny. Book 4 was my favorite which also made it unfairly hard for book 5 in comparison
