I feel the same as others to see too many half-baked imitators of Jimi Hendrix. Some guitar players buy a Strat, practice some Hendrix numbers to about 70% accuracy, buy some Jimi stage clothes and start booking gigs. That's a shame as the clothes and choice of guitar tone are very close, but the actual tiny little notes are not worth the time to learn. They can fool most of the audience with too much wah pedal, and maybe some guitar munching. Take the difficult path! Actually learn every original note. I did and nothing is more satisfying. I currently have 3/4 of this song at 99% accuracy. Exactly as Jimi played it on the Band Of Gypsies album. It seems the perfectionists stay at home making videos, while others choose to imitate poorly and make bank. I was playing Hendrix with my teeth in high school in '74. At about 40-50% accuracy, not bad for a kid. Now at 64, I'm not happy unless every note is authentic. It's a hard path. Sadly, most folks won't know that this guy never learned more than the first few notes of the first solo, and the rest is Hendrix-like soup, with few authentic lines. But you know what? It doesn't matter if everyone is having a good time!

He's not better then Randy Hansen at doing Hendrix. Guy is amazing no doubt, but as soon as he sings you know it's not Hendrix. Randy Hansen has a lot of Hendrix gestures, and voice like Hendrix. Still this should not take away from the " Experience" of this guy's guitar playing and performance. Peace.

@@johntiger5 I was referring his ability to capture the "fingerprint" of the nuances of Hendrix's "guitar voice signature", not singing, not physical gestures.

@larryjackson6075 if you dig it, it's cool. Can't fault ya. Guy is amazing. To me even the subtle nuances of Hendrix live Randy Hansen captured. Like Red House, Machine Gun, Voodoo Chile ( Slight Return) even some songs Hendrix himself didn't do live , Randy Hansen covered. Randy Hansen even finished some songs Hendrix had half finished. He also got the approval of Hendrix dad to cover his songs. Randy Hansen been doing Hendrix longer then Hendrix. I was devastated when Hendrix passed away in 1970, after a short time after releasing the Jimi Hendrix Experience debut album " Are You Experienced " in 1967 so Randy Hansen has been filling that void for a while, and playing with Noel , Mitch and Buddy. Let's just agree to enjoy them both. Any guitarist who devotes that much time to keep the Hendrix Experience alive. Is okay in my book. Keep enjoying good music. Peace.

Well yes and no, the thing is there's hundreds, if not thousands, doing the same thing, and that's the song everyone does most often. Hendrix's set list is long, do another fucking song for God's sake.

Is the drummer playing drunk? Im a drummer as well, and I wasn't really feeling him or the drum solo. I feel like he was just doing his own thing & ignoring the rest of the band throughout the song esp during the ending. He's playing when he should be stopped and letting the guitarist finish the song. The guitarist looks at him like what are you doing lol. Seemed like he was thinking way to much w his improvisation and wasn't flowing during the solo.. like he would do a phil & just stop abruptly thinking what phils next, and it def showed. Then botched the throwing a stick in the air gimmick lol. On the other hand tho, his ludwig kit sounds amazing. The tones from the toms sound so clear, punchy, and booming.

Is that the drummers name? I feel like the drummer wasn't even paying attention throughout the song and was just doing his own thing lol. Like missing parts and coming into early.. Or playing parts to long.. To the point where even the guitars was looking at him like what are you doing and he kept playing during his "drum solo" when the rest of the band was ready to come back in.

I was thinking the same thing lmao. I can't stand when anybody puts their tuner on the head stock like that while playing a show. But seems like hes trying to go for a 1960s look and then all of a sudden there's 21st century technology killing the gimmick lol.

@@user-jl4pk5uv8f He and most of the old school players from that era in general tuned by ear. It's really not that hard to tune by ear. Even for me I can't get my guitar perfectly in tune by ear, but I can get it close enough and don't have to rely on a tuner hanging off the headstock. I'm sure Hendrix was never spot on or perfect but he got it close enough tuning by ear lol.

It was everything. There are nice creators. Dylan is a fantastic creator. Astonishing talent. Hendrix knew it. But Hendrix himself! He wasn't the creator of "All Along the Watchtower" or "Sgt Peppers", but took those songs to a whole new level. He could spot easily awesome music, make it his own and express himself through other's creation and create too. He was, first, a great admirer of great music baffled and with high sensitivity to his time, and second, a great admirer eager to embrace and become one with great music itself... Total legend.

this is voodoo Chile slight return not voodoo Chile, they may be linked as inters of story, but they are diferent sounds, difrent feeling, sound and style, this is more rock but voodoo Chile is more of a blues, it's slower and more melodic than this, this although great song is more Hendrix showing of his gutar skills, rather his gutar is more integrated in the the feel, rhythm and melody of the song, in a lot of ways i find it more powerful and moving than this song, and if you lisen to the lyrics i think more surreal, it really annoys me when vidioes such as this about Hendrix, are titled voodoo Chile, but are voodoo Chile slight return.
