I used to love to ride the People Mover back and forth in the early 80s as a kid whenever we went to the airport to meet family coming in.

Tom Prescott wants to erase the history of this hotel now that he has taken over and it's a shame. When I worked there, there were rumours that he was firing anyone who spoke about the ghostly phenomena. Even if he doesn't believe in it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There's been too much proof and aside, he can't single-handedly erase history. There's been several high profile figures that have felt phenomena on the thirteenth floor. I also found out a book that had been in the works with guest accounts of their ghostly encounters, which took a bit of time to get together, was forced to be thrown out by Mr. Prescott because he wanted to bury the truth. For the record, his father Gene knew how to run this hotel. Not only in keeping the logo on products (which Tom has removed) but had ghost tours every Thursday. These tours stopped after the pandemic.

Ugly AG and poor quality control blaming it on a mechanics training car (like all the others that came off the production line). Who would give a “training car” to someone who is going to review an automobile??!

With a great view of the bay and original Mid Century architecture, the Herald Building could have been converted into a awesome library for Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade College, or FIU. The squandering of such a fantastic opportunity borders on the obscene. Should never have been torn down.

I really miss her and her restaurant. Awesome lady & incredible food! Three generations of my family, including myself, were regulars there from the 1950s through her closure in the 1980s. A lot of great restaurants and places are all gone in NMB and the surround area.

Now for some REAL truth. The REAL Bob was a man named Bob Brownlee. He worked for Miami Dade Public Safety office back then. The Sheriff's Department. It was early 70's. He had a manager named Bob Betelli. I know because I worked for the original. Brownlee who left the Barricade business as far as I know when he sold the original "Bob's Barricades" to James A Ryder of Ryder Trucks. I met James A Ryder at a party we had at the shop in Opa Locka, a suburb of Miami. Don't know what happened after I left the company. But the original Bob was real. I used to deliver sump pumps and barricades to job sites in a 3/4 ton truck. Had my own hard hat they gave me so I could drop things at job sites.

It has to be at least late 63. The announcer at some point mentioned "Cape Kennedy", LBJ changed the name from Cape Canaveral that year. Mid 60's is about right.

I never knew Florida was a heavy manufacturing base. It's a shame the Midtown/Wynwood section of Miami didn't preserve it's industrial roots and invest in light manufacturing jobs instead of frivolous crap like Target.
