Ive been camping a few times at a campsite in Wales and didn't much care for it , too many people and the queue for the lavvies were endless, but I find watching other people do it really interesting. Sometimes Im in the mood for something more "serious" , the sorts of chaps who go armed with chainsaws and who can do a three course meal on a campfire. The sort who can say "Dutch oven" without laughing like a drain (in my defence, Ive been reading Viz for the last 30 odd years) Other times I just like to kick back with a down to earth chap that can make me laugh with his mad adventures. Im glad youre getting some beautiful scenery this time rather than being surrounded by rat traps and jobbies. You really do go above and beyond . 20+ years ago in the Western Sydney Suburb of Penrith Australia, there was a filthy shit hole of a Chinese joint called John Lim's,... I ate there for years & despite the truly disgusting, absolute filth of that place, he was so busy that the food didn't hang around long enough to go bad lol. It was excellent food & I never even got a dose of the wet farts let alone food poisoning & I ate there for years.

I worked on a rig in Nigeria, that meal looks the standard shitty fair for Nigerian food standards. My last night there I ate dinner in a hotel and shit the world out of both ends the next day, I never left the bathroom for 24 hrs only rescued by the Russian college I was with gave me some mistery tablets that stopped me throwing up. The chef on the rig never washed his hands while preparing food and shouted at me in the safety meeting when I called him out on it-I was the medic and safety man. I caught the chef defrosting a bucket of frozen tomatoes under the engine exhaust and threw them over the side. I hope you fair better than I did.

wow, I was expecting the prices outside the Crapital to be lower but London Chinese Takeaway is pretty much the same. I've fallen out of love with the food though, a lot of it is really disappointing, overcooked and gloopy. Stupid expensive for what it is too. On the whole, takeaway Chinese is extremely easy to make at home and incredibly cheap, even using supermarket ingredients. All takeaway Chinese really is is battery farm meat with sauces loaded with MSG, sugar and cornflour. Sweet and Sour sauce for example is Ketchup, Sugar and White vinegar in equal parts. Skip the cornflour, let it simmer and the sugar will thicken it. Satay sauce is a couple of tablespoons of Jimmy's Satay Paste mixed with a couple of tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter, water and a bit of coconut milk. The paste is salty enough, so skip the MSG. The coconut milk will also thicken as it cooks. Chinese Curry Sauce is ready made and available in Asian supermarkets Black bean sauce is from a jar, but watered down and re-thickened with corn flour - that's why its so shiny 'seaweed' is deep fried fresh greens Chinese takeaway really need to step up its game. ETA - those 'ribs' are pathetic. Classic method of hacking a full rib into 8 pieces, giving you 6 and calling it a portion.
