Just taking a moment to say Thanks for this and other Burg videos. I've watched various reviews in the past and off and on I thought I'd like one. (Currently have a Lance PCH125 and @ 1.5 years ago I got a Kymco X-Town 300i) I wanted the bigger bike to do some freeway stuff.. but for no good reason I was afraid of used bikes. (used cars-no problem-lol) The Kymco is good, but tall for my short legs and feels like anything over 75 is working it a bit. I randomly looked at 650 Burgs again and found a local, theft salvaged 07 that I got for $2300 with 17K miles. So far I'm very happy and this video is one I've watched over the years thinking about them! Thanks!

I noticed that my oil level dropped over the course of 3000 miles. It was full when I bought it. Weeks later I noticed it was at half way (in the middle of the sight glass). A few hundred miles later it was low. 2009 650 with 11,000 miles. I changed the oil and it looked a little dirty. I changed the transmission oil and it looked good. I am used to changing oil in my cars at 5000 miles and it still looking somewhat golden.
@ManCaveMayhem8 күн бұрын
@@michaelhord I’m sure it’s probably migrating from the engine to the transmission. They do that all the time. Just shorten the period of time that you normally change the oil.
@michaelhord3 күн бұрын
@@ManCaveMayhem Considering the look of the trany oil, I think you are probably right. I'm so glad I watched this video. I don't have a problem with changing the oil early I just didnt know how early really needed to do this. That said, should I really be using full synthetic if I'm changing the oil in the engine and the tranny every 2k miles? And it says in the manual that I don't have to change the filter every time. Maybe I could find a cheaper filter.

I used 22 by fours running widthwise flat and I secured them to the metal cross braces with bolts and then I had brackets that I made to secure the runners to the existing boards if that makes sense. I use a small inflatable bladder to hold doors in place when I install the hinge pins. The bladder inflates just like a blood pressure cuff. I also use it to raise my motorcycle wheel into place when fitting the axle. Available at most hardware and home improvement stores.

Had my 2017 650 Bergman oil Transmission oils replaced by York Suzuki yesterday, very upset as they damaged the outer casing plastic sealing lugs (catches so there is a Gap now,(won’t click back in) they denied damaging it said there mechanic Did not have to take the side panels off, as you can Clearly see they have to take them off to work and fill the Rear Transmission , last year they Major serviced the bike a Day later the Radiator Leaked and the engine Ceased they said it was a Road chip that must have caused it? I lost the bike out of action for three months and had to pay for a new Radiator, my thoughts were they must have moved and cracked the Radiator to fit two new Plugs is this RiGht ? Service cost me £350 plus an Extra £750 for a new Radiator, I’m still upset about the whole event, would like your thoughts here many thanks Pete!

I think anything‘s possible with the stealerships they make their money by the service, not by selling the bikes. I always had the opinion that nobody’s going to take care of my equipment as well as I am so I always try to do all of my service sometimes that involves going down the rabbit hole, but I just take my time and muddle through. I think it’s very likely that they could’ve broken both items. It’s a tight situation getting getting to the plugs. It’s possible that they could’ve cracked it the plastic cover. I’m sure they probably broke if it wasn’t broken before. Good luck and ride safe my friend. I hope this helps.

They are definitely a very technical bike. Longevity is definitely based on how well the previous people have taken care of the bike. They sure are a lot of fun. My son just took my 2011 on a 400 mile trip with zero problems. I think you’ll be fine with the Birdman 200. They’re good little bikes and not as technically involved as the 650s.

Good video. 👍🏼 I have the back country 30 and 40, and I tie them down with Mosko Moto cinch straps. It’s definitely worth it paying a bit extra for them. If price is an option, the Rig Gear tail bag looks like it’ll do the job nicely, provided you don’t have too much to carry.

I see that a few people express worry about the CVT Bolt, and that not inspecting it for wear regularly, can be really expensive? Can you just loosen and pull the bolt out and inspect it, or do you have to maintain an alignment or something? It looks like a new CVT bolt runs about $130?
