YES FINALLY! Someone doing drop tunings on these Hempbacks. Been wanting to get these for a hardcore band just because, but I wasn't sure if they would really work well for them. While it's not the distortion I would choose. I can tell these Hempbacks wanna chug. I'm excited.

I really appreciate these stacking videos. I'm looking at getting a new 212 with mismatched speakers and this is extremely helpful. I'd be interested using an Alnico Gold as the never change speaker and adding speakers like the Redback, 'A' type, H75 and Heritage for stacking. I may take the "winners" (to my ears) of these comparisons and order one of your 212s. Thank you!!!

Awesome! Check out our latest video comparing the 100 to the Gold and Blue if you haven't already: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eqx5ZJegrqy3oJ8.html Not sure if blending the Gold and 100 would be worth it (perhaps too similar in ways) but perhaps consider the 100 over the Gold...

Hi Alex, BB3 owner here. Since this and the BB3 fall into the FRFR category, what position would the HF attenuator be in to produce FRFR? Anything other than that spot would be 'almost FRFR', wouldn't it? Love my cab regardless, and this one sounds great too. Just curiosity, and I'm not about to acquire a measurement tool to try and figure it out.

Let's see my experience is with Celestion 70/80, Hot 100, G 12M, G12H30 Anniversary, and Marshall Vintage 12. They all work great for different purposes. I think I am not in love with the 100db sensitivity for some stuff. Something about pushing the power amp a little more. Also I feel like resonant frequency plays a good part in the overall character of the speaker. 70/80 sounds really good with solid state or clean pedal platform. Hot 100 is good for cleans and modern metal, G 12 M - great for classic rock sound, not for cleans unless you like dirty cleans, G12H30 is very bright and in your face - sounds great in alot of situations, but man that thing can wear out the ear drums a little sometimes - great for bluesy clean and hard rock/metal. Marshall Vintage 12 is darker than G12H30, brighter than Marshall Lead 80, and really brings the classic rock sound out of my DSL 20 and Blockhead 5150 in an old ADA cab. I have a few widely different types of amp I use from a small solidstate amps to large tube amps. These speakers all can bring out different qualities of an amp.

@@marklishman9092 I (Alex @ Barefaced) designed the drivers with Jerry at Eminence. Bag End used some good drivers back in the day but none like these two. The only problem with the 12XN and 10CR is that we seem to have left ourselves unable to better them - if we were a big corporation we’d probably have made less good versions so we could incrementally improve them every few years and get to sell more things to repeat customers. As it is the 12XN and 10CR are so finely optimised that if we make them “better” in one way it makes them worse in another!

@@oyemimelaza it’s an Egnater Tweaker. The more we learn about the Redback, the more I think that close mic demos sell it short, and that the AVD really helps it fill the room better with mids due to the large voice coil and dustcap making the forward dispersion narrower.

What have I learned from this? 1. There's just something magical about the whole SVT rig. 2. The Dubster or the Big One blows all of these away 3. Alex ain't a great bass player 4. You can't disagree with him, he'll go in the huff or have a massive rant. I go way back with Barefaced before the hate starts, at this point I've bought 9 cabs direct from BF and more cabs than I can remember 2nd hand. At this point in time I am gigging a Dubster & a Big One, both of which have 15 inch speakers, you know, the ones that Alex says don't have a 'sound'. This is where our worlds collide; 15's in my 45 years experience of gigging do have a sound. Why did he ever use 15's if they don't work for bass? Having said the above, the 15 inch BF cabs are INSANE. I gigged my Dubster last night to a 2000 seater and I didn't need P.A.

@@MrWill9894 where are these knowledgeable people who are disagreeing with this? In the forthcoming videos I’ll be explaining how all this stuff works, from engineering principles. The testing has already been done and explained in numerous academic papers which I’ll link at the end of the series. @@MrWill9894 we don’t be doing that - we are too busy designing and building our own products (none of which are guitars and basses). I will explain the physics behind how instruments work and I will link to the proper academic studies that have already been published. The short answer to all of this is that it’s bloody complicated and everyone should stop listening to unqualified KZfaq “experts” (yes it may seem ironic me saying this here but I’m a qualified engineer who has been designing and manufacturing acclaimed audio products for over 15 years) and use their own ears and their own brains. Question: If the resonant frequencies of "electric" instruments make such a difference, then why don't manufacturers make body sensors for the acoustic properties instead of using cruddy piezo sensors in the bridge? I have a hard time believing that this hasn't been researched before... Is there something wrong with the idea of a body sensor on a solid body electric?
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 21 күн бұрын
@@timbrooks521 what would the “body sensor” be though?
@timbrooks521
@timbrooks521 21 күн бұрын
@@BarefacedAudio Well, Taylor, Martin, LR Baggs, Fishman, they all have body sensors ( basically a microphone ) that picks up vibrations off of the top of an acoustic. They are usually more pleasant to listen to than a piezo. Why can't they do that with a solid body electric to allow for an acoustic tone instead of the piezo systems that are so common?
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 21 күн бұрын
@@timbrooks521 for the same reason you can’t sing to an electric guitar around a campfire - the acoustic output is too low. You can mic an electric guitar (the intro of Funky Monks is this sound) but you won’t get it loud enough live without feedback.
@timbrooks521
@timbrooks521 21 күн бұрын
@@BarefacedAudio Right, but we're not looking for an acoustic output, we're simply looking for vibration in the body, similar to the top of an acoustic. The sensor would then go into a preamp like any other piezo or body sensor. These body sensors are currently used in some hollow body electrics such as the Taylor T5z. So if the resonant frequencies of a solid body electric still make a difference the we should be able to amplify them.
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 21 күн бұрын
@@timbrooks521 if a body sensor is a microphone then it requires acoustic output to be able to create an electrical signal, and the quieter the acoustic source, the bigger the problems of noise and feedback.
