Katy’s arc being completely misinterpreted and wrong in this movie throws the whole thing off cause if they were more focused on how SHE as a character and a person is seeing it yeah the teacher not being relatable in the beginning but gradually becoming more like the original character would make sense. If this truly was only from her eyes this would be ok. But because they still messed up a nice modern retelling of a high school cautionary tale

That “CALL ME SON ONE MORE TIME” honestly made me jump, I didn’t expect that from this kid, I mean I have to give him props for the good acting though, there was a lot of passion behind that, I honestly think he even had GW’s actor startled. Also the constant squeaking of shoes in these clips had the dancer in me crying that just ruins the audio in everything

If you all ACTUALLY WATCHED the episodes in 30 rock with black face, you would know that they were purposefully over the top and a criticism of the subject. The black face with Jon Hamm was specifically a callback to older comedies making a joke out of black stereotypes. Tracy Jordan breaks a chair on his back and calls him ignorant. The message never came to be that blackface was okay or funny. It is so so easy to hate Gen Z and their performative sanitation of anything worthwhile.

I LOVED these movies as a kid. My favorites were Space Buddies and Treasure Buddies.

Movie musicals are self-fulfilling prophecy in the eyes of movie execs... No one likes them, so lets make it as sanitized, boring and dumbed down so the stupids-- I mean "audience", can follow along. They view their audience with such contempt, and then throw their hands up as if to say "SEE?? NO ONE LIKES MUSICALS, NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY". All theyve done is gut it, gave us the scraps, and were offended when we didnt want it.

You know, when I heard Enchanted was getting a sequel I was convinced it was going to be about Morgan's biological mother (remember they never directly state she died only that she's gone and as a child as divorce I took that as her mother left her and her father). In my mind this movie would have been about Morgan becoming disenchanted with her life wondering where her mother is, why she left and suddenly she shows up one day and wants to connect. Thus forcing Giselle into the 'evil' stepmother role because she has to be the responsible parent (taking her to school, reminding her of homework, etc.) and the bio mum just wants to have fun and connect, making her the 'cool' mother. Maybe Giselle wants to take Morgan to to the park to feed and sing to the birds but her bio mum wants to take her out shopping, pulling Morgan in two different directions. Moral of the story would be something like 'life is hard but you can find magic in all the smallest places' which is a lesson that feels more and more important to remember the older I get. My point in all of this is that it's not difficult to make a sequel out of these characters, Disney is just really lazy and bad at making movies now.

i watched every one of theses movies (multiple times 😭) except spooky buddies because my mom didnt like halloween and wouldnt let me (or my siblings) watch any "scary" or halloween stuff when we were younger

This is, fundamentally, why remakes in general just kind of... suck ass. They rely on the goodwill of the audience towards the original. They functionally cannot stand on their own as movies, they can only exist as shadows. It's the same for the Avatar the Last Airbender live action, and all the Disney live actions, and the Heathers show, and the Rings of Power show (even though that's supposed to be set at a completely different time and isn't supposed to reference the Peter Jackson trilogy at al, all they can do is make the audience point and go "I KNOW THAT REFERENCE!"). It's pathetic, it's vapid, it's shallow and it's insulting to the audience. I'm genuinely so incredibly fucking *tired* of it.

Every clip you showed of the actual musical gave me flashbacks to watching spiderman: turn off the dark. My special interest is spiderman and I've watched TOTD about 9 times now (it was torture each time, genuinely do Not watch it you will not get those hours back, there is a full videon on youtube tho!) (I actually have a piece of merch :D) Anyways the absolute insane mix of 50 different styles, the trap-inspired party song, the absolutely incredible lyricism, feels very TOTD to me. I get why youd love it though, again ive wasted more time in my life watching TOTD than i have the first spiderman movie

I would assume that in “Say No to This”, the reason they used the same actress to play Eliza and Mariah Reynolds would be due to the fact that the two actors are an actual couple. It’s not hard to imagine that in a Christian production, the people in charge would not want to have two people in a “relationship” onstage who have significant others irl.
