First race I ever watched. I wanted Jimmy to win cuz I liked an alternate livery of his car in Nascar 05 video game. My cousin said he sucks and won't win. After this I fell in love with racing of all kinds. Now I work for Porsche motprpsorts

Only once since this race, the Daytona 500 was held on a February 15th. That was in 2009 where Dale Jr's. friend Matt Kenseth won his first of two Daytona 500 victories. He had some help from Mother Nature after rain shortened the race after 152 of 200 laps. In 2012, where Montoya hit the jet dryer, Kenseth won for the second time in a GWC finish that had the race go 202 laps. The next projected year for a February 15th running is in 2026 (68th running).

@@thomascarr7488 well, you can unlock Joey Logano if you enter the cheat code 426378. Enter the code, then you get the driver. However, there is no cheat code to unlock Richard Petty because you have to get 43 trophies. You can get trophies by placing all records for all events in any track or unlocking an outsider or finish the event in any difficulty. Either way, you can do all of it.

there are 100 million things that made this tragic, but the fact that dale's death, the most tragic event in nascar history, came at the same exact time darrell was so emotional for michael, maybe the most joyous event, hurts real bad. i can't imagine how happy i'd be watching my little brother do something this amazing.

These 8 minutes can make grown men everywhere cry. Not only the crash itself but Darrell crying for Mikey, asking if Dale's okay, Buffy in tears, Mikey's first win in 463 tries, the crazy moves being made on track..... Just pure emotion all around. I don't want this taken the wrong way because it's terrible that we lost Dale, but it's almost fitting the man who gave us so many memories on the track had his final moments on the sports biggest stage in a series of events Hollywood couldn't script. Rest In Paradise Dale, 16 years later we still miss you greatly

The more I watch this race, I see that Junior wanted Michael to win or Senior told Junior if Michael or you are in the lead, one of y'all finishes 2nd while I hold em off for y'all. That's probably what they wanted and they almost got it. I don't blame Sterling Marlin for trying to get up there. Had one of the fastest cars in the race.

But back in those days when we had square grooves, I had that ability to play that shot. And I had already seen that shot, because either a year or two before Davis Love holed a very similar shot. But he was slightly further up the hill, and I saw him give it a little bit extra for it to break. So I kind of knew the line already.Said Tiger.Davis holed the same shot 3years earlier but is never remembered.

He was protecting his team. That race was the only one in Earnhardt's career where he drove defensively, he wanted to get a team win. If Sterling & Schrader were a little slower that final turn, he would've survived.

No way, this was better than todays, yes in the beginning of the race Stewart and Ku Busch dominated, but after both got taken out, who knew who was going to win, today's race has nothing like this especially watching Harvick and Martin racing for the flag as cars spun behind them, oh and that sweet sound of those cars back then.
