Good video but I find it odd that companies are still selling curtains in inches when we went metric in 1972 and I'm 62 years old and have been using metric for decades. You talk about the curtains in imperial and then talk about the curtain pole in metric. Maybe you should show both in your charts so clients can chose which measurement to look at.

Ideally you need a drill, perhaps find a local friend who has one you can borrow or a local neighbour, with a drill this will only take a few mins and is the easiest way

Yes you can drill into aluminium windows, but make sure you only drill approx 5mm deep so you do not drill into the glass. If drilling into aluminium a self tapping screw would be better - watch this video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o8l-pdOEm6qyYok.html at around 2mins 55 seconds

Yes you covered the width . ....but what about the drop...where exactly do start to measure the drop from......the top of the curtain, .. ??? the top of the pole, ....???.....from eyelets or what, not everyone does this for a living and for someone who does I thought that you would have covered this part as well. If you wall is really crumbly, you could could repair and fill the holes - and redrill them - similar to this video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b5ZooKSUzczFYZs.htmlsi=YZq-XDCQYxai_Owe or put a white wooden batten across the top of the window and screw your pole brackets to that

You need to get a big needle and thread the cord back through the curtain tape. There are several cords so look at a cord above or below and do the same.

Great to have it explained so well. I want to change from pencil pleat to eyelets but my current rods are held up by ring brackets (that the pole slides through ) rather than hooks that the pole can sit. Do I need to change the brackets?

The brackets should be ok, you may need to check what the clearance is between the pole and the wall. If the pole is approx 4 inches away from the wall. it should be ok for eyelet curtains.

I would recommend a carpenters awl to make the holes. Much quicker and no chance of oversinking.

My radiator is directly below the windowsill. How should I measure this so it looks okay?

It depends on how close it is too the window sill, If the radiator is approx 6 inches below the window sill, You could measure from 1 inch above the radiator, You need to make sure the curtains do not catch on the radiator and also come below the window sill to block out light and look in proportion to the window. It is personal preference so up to you.

Hi my cord has a white little plastic box that joins the cord together but when I go to open the blind it stops the blind from fully going up , you can open the plastic joiner but I don’t know how to make the blind go up or down fully without this plastic joiner catching at the top as it uncoils or recoils , the blind drop is 170 cm so why should it not go right up to the top 🔝?

I am not sure what brand roller blind you have, but normally the chord mechanism on the side of the roller blind is pushed tightly into an aluminium tube of the roller blind . You need to take the roller blind down from the widow, slide the chord mechanism out from the side. And push the chord mechanism back in so the joiner does not catch, then you will be able to operate the blind so it opens and closes fully

Would love to know how to put up an extra long tension rod on a wide window (236cm) and prevent bowing. How do you hang nets if there are additional supports added to the rod. I cant believe we are in the 21st century and this problem has not been resolved. Very little info/demonstrations online. Thank you.

you need to use a centre support hook in the middle to stop it from bowing . Although this is not ideal because once the rod has a centre support you can not move the curtain. On wider windows over 200cm the ideal solution would be to use a curtain track and have curtain tape on the nets . This way the track is dead straight and you can also slide curtains if needed.

If you do it measuring from the back and the recess is different sizes left to right the blind will look bent to the eye. If it’s straight (square) it will be fine though

When I order thr curtains onlins , do I pick one with 230 cm width and it would come divided into two sets of curtains to face each other or do I order 2 curtains, each 115 cm width so they make up 230 cm ?
