if you want to accelerate the erection of this style of building and make it safer, build the end frames FIRST then install the arch panels one style/level at a time. you will need no more than two people to do the job and require NO heavy equipment to do the job. as an engineer, I erected my building with the help of a 72-year-old man whose only job was to hold a wrench. I erected the building by myself using ONLY a pipefitters crane and a light-duty scaffolding. I paid $1,300 for the equipment needed to do the job. I needed only common hand tools for the rest. the only extra tool was an S hook which had one end expanded to pick up the panels. can send pictures of the build for any doubters.

come for the content.. stayed for the tune.. :) Hey. Anybody know. Any way to achieve R-30 on these structures and pass Florida Building codes? I was thinking replacing some bolts with with really long bolts (like 10inches), floating 1x4 PVC Ferring's, wedge in Rockwool R-30 insulation (7.5 inches thick), tape on a water vapor and finally screw on 1/4 plywood panel as the finished wall. Would this ever pass Florida Building codes for primary dwelling?

FantasticO project man! Building a structure as your own project is one of the richest life experiences there is. Of course you hire help it’s a big undertaking and you can’t emotionally let it take too long or the momentum gets ruined. It’s kinda like the other richest experience there is hahahahaha

How did you attach the stud walls to the metal arches? Did you screw though the exterior of the arch and into the stud? Is it a structure in structure? How was the insulation and dry wall attached?

As a Civil Engineer, I designed one, and obtained a permitted by the building department of Siskiyou County. The metal shell company stated it was the first one in California. It was built, inspected, and approved for occupancy. The cost of construction was unbelievably high. It is hard to beat a "Stick-Built" home in cost.
@rusosure72 жыл бұрын
Two years later with supply chain after supply chain issues, "sticks" are really quite expensive these days.
@Adamcfresh Жыл бұрын
Why was it so high?
@danieljhf7301 Жыл бұрын
@@Adamcfresh Insulation. The contractor picked a blow-on foam that stuck to the steel, and then hardened. Insulation requirements were per the "Title 24", and energy calculation requirements. Steel transmits hot or cold very well. Thus, a special insulation. But that is California. Hopefully cheaper in other states. Building turned out very beautiful with the internal framing. Speaking of framing... a stick built needs framing anyway. Metal shell, with insulation, and internal framing. Thus, a metal shell still needs framing. Simply go with a stick-built, and you have your internal and external framing. Hard to beat a "stick-built" home (2x6 walls) for price. Every now and then someone sends me a new construction technique with different materials. Every time so far, stick-built is less expensive.
