At around 9:05 in the video, when you two-block the mainsheet, the traveller is far too loose. It might be helpful to demonstrate the relationship and the importance of having the traveller snugged up. Maybe you get to this in the later part of the video.

I wish I could get a laser sooooo bad. I’ve saved up close to 3000 dollars as a kid from lawn mowing, chores, lemonade stands, and stuff like that over the year. One of my sailing counselors offered me one for 3000$. I checked up with my dad and mom to see if I could get one with the money I saved up. They said no.. all that hard work just for “we don’t need more room taken up”, even though we literally have a huge garage that would easily fit a laser in it

Why not just move the bar a bit higher? Lol
@internationalsailingacademyАй бұрын
👨🎓Great question. That would require a release of the vang and sheet and once you complete the tack, you would have to then again tighten each, which takes extra strength and time with each tack. Thanks for watching!🙌

Wait wouldn’t leeward heel cause the boat to bear away? I thought that windward heel caused you to head up or keep your point which is why people do roll tacks to get them through the wind, and why hiking is so important even when the boat is flat

Why not put foot over strap?
@internationalsailingacademy7 ай бұрын
Great question and this can be different for everyone, but a good rule of thumb is to have one foot under and one foot over the hiking strap to help maintain leverage and balance throughout the tack.
