Well I'll be. We are blessed with a milsurp video. That rifle is a jewel. I'm happy to watch you shoot all the old stuff. More so when you talk about them if I am being honest. I also like that you usually include a little bit about the lineage of shown rifle from you on back. Good stuff!

I'm glad you enjoy them Joshua. The sad truth is I'm running out of rifles to talk about and my favorite gun shop has changed hands because the owner retired. The new owners don't carry the old milsurp stuff. They like modern and plastic guns. SUCKS BAD! I still have some interesting things to show so I'll keep going!

I have same BDL but in 243. I’m 54 bought it win I was 19. Recently i bedding the stock with Marinetex gray and free floated my barrel it went from shooting MOA to all bullets go in same hole every time. This was a long tedious process but couldn’t be happier. It now likes Remington 95 Corlokt tipped to shoot one hole groups but sub MOA still with other brands of ammo.

As someone who lived and worked in machine shops around Dayton for several decades, those Inland models are kinda special to me. Dayton is just a shell of its former self these days. I fled to the TN mountains about 5 years ago, but enjoy watching a Buckeye like yourself. I also watch Richard from Small Caliber Arms Review. I don't think he is terribly far from you to be honest. My Dad brought one home from the Phillipines. I have it now. I found ammo and test fired it and since that I have fired maybe 100 rds through it. It has a dark walnut looking stock. I has a broken follower spring so I load it from the top. No Mum. Been ground off. Dads words to me was, "I picked it up out of a mud hole and cleaned it up and brought it home." I have a couple boxes of the same ammo as you. Lee used to make a hand loader that I could load rds with but I never got into that. I paid 42 dollars I think for a box.

Wow its great that you know the story of how it got here and thanks to your dad for his service. Those guys were a different kind of tough. I load for it and for the Swedish Mauser and I keep a supply of 6.5 projectiles so cost to shoot isn't an issue once you have the brass. I struggle with accuracy with the twenty pound trigger but its still fun to shoot. Ebay is a place to start for the mag spring. Parts are out there if you are willing to search. Good luck and thanks for watching.

If the rifle's mum was "ground off" your father did not find this gun in the Philippines. The mum, which indicated the rifle belonged to the Imperial Army was defaced either by a chisel mark (like the rifle shown here) or ground off was to show that the rifle was turned into occupation authorities. My late father served in the Luzon Campaign and was later in the occupation army in Japan. The unit he served with was one of the many that oversaw demilitarization of Japanese units and their weapons. Ex-Imperial Army soldiers were employed to deface the rifles. The removal of the mum was NOT done by soldiers for any other reason. Every Jap rifle you see was a turned in weapon that was simply pulled off of a pile in a demilitarization dump. They were not "Combat Pickups" no matter what story has been attached to the rifle in question.

I don't know. It probably needs replaced or maybe the splined cross piece is worn. Neither of my P30s have that problem yet. That being said I don't shoot the grey one much. I did just take it out along with the black one last Friday and both preformed great! I traded the HK 45 for a USP 45 so I no longer have that one.

I used to oogle over the Browning catalogs when I was a kid and never imagined that I’d ever be able to afford one. I have worked hard for it, but consider myself very fortunate to now own several Browning rifles and shotguns. Last year, I was finally able to find my BAR. It’s a Mark II in .300 Win and topped with a Leupold 4.5-14 VXIII. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I wasn’t able to make time to sight it in to use this season, so I’ll have to wait for 2024. My father didn’t hunt, so I don’t have any handed down guns. I’m a little bit jealous of those of you who get to shoot and take game with your father or grandfathers rifle. I can only hope that when my collection gets passed on to my children, that they can enjoy successful hunts with them and hopefully look back fondly on the times they hunted with me. As for your inconsistent accuracy, I have two things you might try. The first is that your rest has you in a bit of an awkward position. The rifle is quite low on your shoulder. You may get it dialed in at the range, but you may be off from what you’d expect when shooting game. Second, the recoil is causing that rest to move around quite a bit on you. Weighing it down some and/or adding something to the bottom that will give more friction against the bench should help improve consistency at the range. Hope that helps, and hope you have many more successful seasons with that rifle!
