Very cool, this was fun to listen to! Do you know when you'll be able to run again? Maybe you could do a podcast on how to cope if you're an athlete who gets injured/has to take time off?

Omg!! So much praise!!! I had to quit tennis to be able to get into medical school. Cal U and Pitt were my schools. I eventually had to get so many clinical and volunteer hours, and had to be published- med school not PA but both are SO HARD!!!!! I escaped with just 1 C and that nearly took me out of contention for any med school. Gap years and any C is frowned upon, and needs a significant explanation. More than one C= no med school. One C = maybe. And it needs to be explained also applying to residency. It only gets worse. I had to leave the profession entirely bc I of my mental health, and not being able to negotiate IVF after miscarriages with residency schedule. I give you guys so much credit. I think pre med and getting into med school is not possible with a SA. I would really warn anyone coming in as a SA and a STEM major that you are not going to have enough hours. But somehow it is doable. Somehow Nya Reed is IN PA SCHOOL and did an amazing season as grad student at UCLA IN GYMNASTICS!!!! It takes them all day to prep makeup and hair for a meet…getting up at 6am for a 5pm meet. They definitely want people who can time manage like that. It just can only explain a certain number of Cs, but PA school is easier, to put it bluntly. My friend is a PA and our grad schooling was entirely different; she had no idea about some od the nerves we had to learn. I can so relate to road trip exams, and having a 4.2 in HS- and then in med school barely scraping by with a low A. Suddenly #2 grad to top 50 percentile in med school. It is no joke. Best of luck to her!!!! Maybe consider retaking a C class to show you can hack it?? I know you can!! Also I got 2 master’s degrees within 1 year after school bc still I had to make up for one C and 2 AB’s. Pitt o-chem is NO JOKE esp w a certain prof!!! This was way back 2005-‘09 though. Anyway people were like, “Wow how did you get 2 in 1 year?!?!?! Advanced track master’s with theses?!?!?!!! I could only reply w the fact that it was SO EASY alone compared to a college schedule w student athlete. And my master’s were not easy; one all memorization and 7 hour exams like med school is in my anatomy master’s + master’s in psychology which is ALL WRITING AND CITATIONS. It’s wild. I ran the Pgh marathon 3 times and half 5-6x and the 10 mile EQT- Pgh hills are no joke. I ran and coached Schenley back in my 20’s bc I needed something w my tennis done. She is smart to apply to a broad range of schools w lower stats but you will use that time management etc everything you learned here when you make it into school!!!!❤

Would you rather questions: 5k (even as a distance girlie because I've never run more than a half!) COLD (because running a long run in the heat is actually the worst) shoes in a group for a workout, alone for an easy run pls talk to me mid-workout, distract me! but don't ask me to talk to you haha socks ofc. Too many blisters without. uphill rather than headwind (they're the worst) snow over rain last with a PR!

Please consider recruiting video. There is very limited information on track and field/ cross country recruiting videos. Also, possibly talking to freshman vs senior because the rules have changed between the two I believe. Thanks
