Had to buy some spikes for where I live but ended up buying the metal ones just because I needed them bigger as they would be glued to a tricky position but those are being used in by one of the neighbours downstairs and seems to be working for them too 🎉

Hi, thanks for the video. I am happy with the case but I want to remove it so that I can attach a lanyard. Any tips on removing it please? I am trying to do the reverse of what I did fitting it but I am finding it impossible to remove. A video on removing it would be great!

Edit: wanted to add so I just scored this unit on Bed Bath & Beyond website for a grand total after coupon and promo for $205.41 much less expensive then amazon, I hope I like it!! Do you think this will be good for an upstairs hot hallway I would think so.. & does it hopefully have a decent strong/powerful airflow when on high speed?
@alderandjade
@alderandjade Күн бұрын
Nice find!! It has good airflow, but I wouldn't say super strong. But it is quite cold air. I would think about where you want it to vent to get the most out of it. I personally still think it's better as a focused AC on you as you're at your desk, in the kitchen, etc than an AC that will fully cool a space so I'm very curious how your test goes! I hope you like it too!

@@alderandjade thanks ya I hope it works out, the main space I have in mind to try it in is just a small landing space/hallway area at top of stairs, space is only prob 100 square feet if that.. thinking I can direct the hoses into other nearby unused room which has a reg unit in there though to, but yea this should hopefully come in handy for that or like an emergency since it says it only needs 300 watts, If it's total junk well back it goes, Just looks like a better solution for small space then a regular fan or evap cooler.

Finally a review on this! I spotted this as coming soon on Amazon a few months ago & it definitely has had me intrigued, I have and have had several portable ac units so I'm very familiar with them, I wondered about the hot air exhausts on this because they say no windows needed & I was like hmm that will not work well but I can see it definitely has its niche and you summed it up well. I think it's currently overpriced though! I saw it on bed bath and beyond for around 200.. 399 is just to much though anyhoo I'm thinking about it for certain area like hot hallway or something else in a pinch but waiting for lowest price, thanks for reviewing it!

I SO agree! This balm heals everything. It's the super balm we pull out when regular chapsticks aren't working. The overnight difference is always surprising! I get why it could be banned given that it isn't meant for daily use and people might ignore that piece of the directions. I'm grateful for it though!

Im concerned about humidity or moisture buildup on interior surfaces so can I get away with only placing the cold packs instead of ice water in the tank?
@alderandjade
@alderandjade 3 күн бұрын
I'm not an expert here so hopefully someone else will chime in too, but I'm pretty sure the water is the key piece. The ice packs are only there to keep the water cold. The whole concept is that the hot air is blown across a special cooling pad that has soaked up the cold water. The water absorbs the heat and evaporates as cool air gets blown out the other side. But these only work well in lower humidity areas. If the air is already very humid, it won't be able to absorb the cooler water nor will it be able to evaporate quickly. We live in the PNW and used this all of summer 2023 in our bedroom. It was on a wood floor blowing right at our bed. We never had any moisture issues. We actually used it to dramatically improve the terrible house AC. So we had it set up in front of the vent and it worked beautifully.

I used Chapin sprayer for over 40 years as a landscape horticulturist that owned and operated a landscape spraying and pruning service in Oregon. I used the 3 gallon blue Poly tank sprayers and the 1- 2 gallon stainless Chapin sprayers. The one I used for 40 years are still in great shape, and I use them regularly in my home orchard and gardens. I admit I babied them with regular cleaning and when parts were worn i.e. gaskets, o rings , etc. I replaced them. Chapin sprayers are pretty much bulletproof! ❤❤❤

Thanks for your review, I been looking for one. What max size room do you think this will cool and how much BTUs?
@alderandjade
@alderandjade 5 күн бұрын
It is a 4,100 BTU DOE AC that claims to cool rooms up to 350 square feet. That said, I find the design to be better as a personal AC to cool the specific space you are in. Like having it blast at you while sitting at your desk will be super cooling.

After using this for a while, Is this truly drainage free? I’m debating on drainage free or dual hose. Any issues with the heat recirculating from the vent?
@alderandjade
@alderandjade 5 күн бұрын
At 2:48, I point out the drains. I does have a tank that collects the water and IF you aren't in a high-humidity area or don't run it all the time, it is designed to collect less water and evaporate most water it collects over time. That said, it will alert you when the tank is close to full and turn off it if is full so you can drain it. As for heat recirculating. The exhaust vent needs to go out the window so it doesn't recirculate. The lower side vent - I believe - is for the air evaporator more than anything, but no air is coming out of it. So no, it doesn't blow any warm air back into your space!

@@alderandjadeI appreciate your answer. My current unit is one hose and I can feel the heat radiating from the whole hose, which seems to be warming the room faster than the unit is trying to cool it. I have read that insulating the hose itself should keep that from happening so I was curious if you e run into that situation.
@alderandjade
@alderandjade 5 күн бұрын
@@saddad6601 The exhaust hose will definitely get quite warm, but the physical heat on the hose should not be warming your room. The majority of the heat should be venting out the window. That said, any insulation you can add will make a difference. Covering the hose can help (but isn't necessary), but *definitely* make sure no hot air is coming in through cracks in the window opening. Another thing to keep in mind is the square footage this is designed for and that there is a temperature tipping point with small ACs. This Dreo is 12,000BTU so it's designed for 450-500 square feet. If you have it in a small room, but always have the door open to the rest of the house, that cool air is moving out of the room just as fast as warm air is moving in and you aren't going to notice as much of a difference minus feeling the extra heat on the exhaust hose. AND, from experience, I've found that these ACs work much better if you keep the room at a cooler temp. Say, keep your room 75F or lower and let it maintain that temp throughout the day. If you let the room go over 90F and then turn on the AC in the middle of the hot day, it's going to have a REALLY hard time countering that and getting the room back down to something cool. We usually keep our AC at 68F all day on hot summer days and it keeps the room at 68-74F depending on the outside temp.
