Sorry, I like you all and your takes, but Pop is not going to take a chance here. Never going to happen...As someone who has watch POP and the team for 30 years, they will never do this. Waste a whole year fro Wemby? Really? WOW....Are you all saying the DNA of POP and the front office just do not matter. Have you listened to POP for years....Just do not understand, how folks can just ignore all of this. It likes folks are just thinking this is the first year of the NBA....Geez Might make a good show, but not realistic in any way.

I definitely wouldn't be apposed to this. Risacher at 4 Tidjane at 8 Future potential lineup PG: Tre Jones/free agency target SG: Devin Vassel SF: Zaccharie Risacher PF: Tidjane Salaun C: Victor Wembanyama 6th: Jeremy Sochan (he was 6th man in college) Making Keldon Johnson even more expendable in a trade for a PG: example even though it probably won't happen: Spurs Receive: Darius Garland Cavs Receive: Keldon Johnson, Malaki Branham, Zach Collins or Devonte Graham for salary reasons, 2025 Chicago top 10 protected first round pick, 2028 VIA Spurs first round pick swap with Celtics. Then to fill Malaki hole, go after a KCP or DeAthony Melton type in free agency

Somehow idt there was a worse pick than a guard at 7 for portland but I was wrong. Im surprised I’ve seen no one say it, but how can you remotely justify saying that Rissacher doesn’t have the offensive upside to be a top 3 pick because he doesn’t have playmaking abilities, and then reasonably argue Tyler Smith over Matas Buzelis, Ron Holland, Dalton Knecht, Tidjane Salaun, and Clingan. Tyler smith has no creation or passing ability whatsoever there is no way he gets taken that high

If Risacher is available at 4 there is ZERO universe, even in the multi-verse, where the Spurs FO brass don't take him there. It's just too clean of a fit with their current roster, where Risacher comes in and to take over Julian Champagnie's starting slot (Julian's much better suited for a bench role) and where Risacher's flaws and shortcomings won't nearly be as exposed. He can stand in the corner and hit open 3s and play within the concept on defense. He won't have to create for himself. Not only that, Riisacher's flaws are much easier to take on at the 4th pick then in the top 3. James is missing the big picture w/their roster and why Stayman is skeptical.If the Spurs really want the balky-kneed Topic, they gamble on him at 8. Personally, I'd hate even wasting the 8th pick on Topic with a reminder that a) The Spurs currently have 3 firsts in next year's draft, already a much deeper draft or b) Even if the Spurs move those picks it likely means they're dealing for say, a big time PG and say, in the case of Darius Garland, then essentially, there's no future for a player like Topic on the roster when they've already got an awesome backup in Tre Jones, and guys like Malaki and Wesley who spent ALL last season playing backup PG minutes.

You would have to trade Murray. He wants to play point guard and you already have two ball dominant guards there’s no way he’s gonna even work out for them. I know we hate when players voice an opinion, for whatever reason, but we have to trust he knows what’s best for his career.

I think the top 4 French players, Sarr , Risacher, Salaun, Dadiet will be amongst the top 8 players in this draft, in 2-3 years! Richard, the deficiencies you mentioned for Risacher and Dadiet, as well as Sarr and Salaun, are all fixable through hard work, discipline, training and ability to learn. So it’s up to the individual player’s mental mindset!! (Which is done through interviews, something that we “draftniks” have no access to)

It has been reported that NBA physicians traveled to the combine overseas on Wednesday to assess the medical conditions on Nokola Topic and his agent confirmed that he has a partial torn ACL of the left knee and will be out for the year. NBA physicians are confident that the surgery will have a positive outcome especially with his young age. As expected, concern has arisen that his stock will fall and push him down the draft and most likely out of the draft unfortunately. Best wishes for the young man

@valis14
@valis14 4 күн бұрын
Yikes, hopefully Brian Wright/R.C. Buford steer way clear of Topic. Think what Stayman is overlooking is how tough Pop is on point guards, how long it takes for him to trust them. Tony Parker was the exception; everyone else spent 2-3 years on the bench, from Joseph to DJ to White. If Topic can't play this entire year, that means he's going to be down the depth chart and not ready to contribute significant minutes until 2 years from now and that's way down the Victor timeline. The Spurs have three -- yes three! -- 1st round draft picks next year, which is much deeper class: their own, Chicago's 1st (top 10 protected) and Atlanta's 1st (unprotected). The playing time for Topic just won't be there if he's not around this year and that's not accounting for the Spurs love of Tre Jones (especially as backup), and have invested a ton of time/development in Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley, who both played 90% of the backup point guard minutes last year. They'll need to find minutes for those guys too. Malaki got multiple starts at point because the Spurs don't have a heliocentric offense, the kind that a non-shooter like Topic is suited to run. In fact, a player like Topic is just going to be taking away assists from Victor, who will be handling the ball even more as a creator next year and he needs guys who can cash his passes, preferably from behind the arc. With their 8th pick, if the Spurs keep it, I see them taking a flier on Salaun if he's available, as he checks all the boxes of that project player at a position they can be patient for.
