if you told james madison that like 100-ish years later this would happen, he would shit his pants

This was such a horrific day. This kind of gesture shows the incredible bond our countries have. I am a naturalized citizen and listening to this choked me up. While I wasn’t born in the USA, I am proud to be a citizen today and love the USA deeply. It has done so much for me! Thank you for your solidarity.

Our mutual solidarity and strong friendship with the English is not forgotten, despite our history. Although the United States stands on foundations against the monarchy, we recognize Queen Elizabeth II as a world class leader of her people, and an example to follow. We are stronger together, and will continue to strengthen our unique bond. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇬🇧

Just think about this for a moment. This is a monarch honoring a republic by ordering the playing of the republic’s anthem without any official representative of the republic in attendance. Shows the gravity of the situation and the friendship between the US and the UK

9/11 was a big deal... Those not born yet and those that are too young to comprehend that day don't really know. It was a MAJOR event in modern times. Thank you, England, for standing by us in those times. RIP to all who perished.

I don't know what is so heartwarming in a way to see a country that is an entire ocean away from the United States, being so effected by 9/11 that the people in the crowd have tears in their eyes, but it is.

I was there watching the race in 1957. It was a truly historic performance by Fangio. His driving was always very smooth and in total control of the car. I graduated from Frankfurt American High School in 1957 and left for the US slightly after this.
