What device do you have mounted to your pilot side yoke? And how do you use it? Don’t ever seem to talk about it or look at it? Any thought of moving IPad to your yoke? I have older redundant GPS ON pilot yoke on 182 and it’s not used very much.
@TheFlyingSalesman13 күн бұрын
It is a Garmin Aera 650 (I think) and it I have it hardwired to aircraft power and crossfill enabled to the GTN 750 and 430. It was installed before Foreflight was around and before we upgraded to the Aspen and GTN 750 (removed a 530). It is meant to be another tool in the event of power failure. What I use it for most often, is I have it programmed to show the top of descent into my destination. You hear me often say that I simply use a descent rate of 500 fpm, Altitude minus field elevation equals I need to start descent X minutes out. I do often glance down at the rate of descent required as a reference. Because I used a full size iPad and I like that size, it would be simply too big on the yoke.

For a turbo 210 you seem to fly the lower altitudes and I noticed you prefer switching your fuel tanks! I found it easier to use the both selection avoiding an unbalanced problem!
@TheFlyingSalesman13 күн бұрын
@@chuckgibbons9731 I pick the altitude based on winds and distance. I prefer to go higher but it is not always feasible. On the T210M, there is not an option for “both”. Left off Right is what it has. I burn 30 min on one side and then 1-hour back and forth (usually).
