Kudos to this woman. She's not the only one. When I was little I used to play with a Portugese kid whose dad was a garda who''d batter him, the wife/mother and the 2 toddlers. She had no English so couldn't find a way to get help. We didn't know what to do and felt powerless because we were small kids. His station has been known for crookedness. So there was no way she could call the guards. It's a bit insulting saying "you will be believed" when sometimes still people are not. When we were 7 he got transferred to another part of the country so I never saw them again. The Garda would be about 60 so likely retired now but chances are his wife is still trapped.
