How humans came up with doing this (watch making) is bonkers. We are crazy good at innovation and just getting shit done 😂😂

Have viewed this video many times over the years and am always in awe! Just stunning. Love Patek’s and the gold Calatrava is my dream watch, but will probably never be able to afford it.

This is decently priced given the context. To put it in perspective, it took 100,000 man hours to make this piece. If it was listed at $2.5 million, that means if we were to solely go off someone getting paid to make this watch, they would be getting paid about $25/hr which is below the average employee wage in the US. This is of course isn’t accounting for everything else (i.e. materials, energy costs, and branding) When the watches went on sale, Im assuming they showcased it to a VERY VERY VERY exclusive list of clients and was not for sale to the general public. Even if you won the lottery and became a billionaire over night, the odds of securing this watch are still minuscule. When pieces like these are sold via third party, they are almost aways privately auctioned off (invitation only) and sold to the highest bidder. Long story short, you have to know someone, that knows someone, that knows someone, to even be considered to have an opportunity to sit at a private auction to have a chance in paying 10-20 times the original price.

I’m a classical pianist. The smooth and incredible transition between genres of music been played in this video is just phenomenal. From upbeat jazz music that reflects the precision of the complications, cantabile string music that narrates the rococo styled curves and patterns crafted on the case, and the chorale section at the end which elevates the whole being into divinity that celebrates artisan spirit of mankind! The grandmaster chime has nothing to do with how much it auctioned, but a celebration of us, human.

This comment. As an aspergers having musician who adores anything music, I can say this comment is much better than many will care about, and perfect for this video. You, you have added your opinion correctly, and you win 2 points on the grand scale of KZfaq comment greatness. Keep up the good work.
