The entire history given in this video is incorrect. Eagle was an AMC model... which Chrysler used a brand name to sell rebadges: the Premier (Dodge Monaco), Talon (Mitsubishi Eclipse/Plymouth Laser) and Summit (Mitsubishi) upon the purchase of AMC The PRV v6 was designed in an alliance between Peugeot, Renault and Volvo.

So his history on the Eagle is off. Prior to 1987, AMC had partnered with Renault and was producing and selling the Eagle as an AMC model, I believe the only remaining AMC branded model at that point, they were building Renaults in the US in Kenohsa Wisconsin at the AMC plant, they were Renault designs just US MFG, probably just final assembly type stuff, and had unique model names different from their European counterparts. In 1987 when Chrysler bought AMC, mostly to get the Jeep brand, they ended up with the soon to be released Renault Premiere, instead of scrapping it, they spun off the Eagle brand in 1988. The Premiere was one of the models they produced and sold as Eagles, they migrated over to Chrysler / Mitsubishi / Diamond Star products over time and phased the brand out. So no, Eagle as a brand, and Eagle Premiere as a model did not pre date the Chrysler acquisition.

The Delorean isnt a Delorean unless they make it look exactly like the old delorean. But with new under the hood new technologies, but with thr same looking body style.

So they are just buying up old DeLorean's turning them into electric vehicles and charging $299,000 USD ( that's about 175,000 more than is would cost to buy an old one with a blown motor and have it converted.) in the contract it states "Customer understands that achievement of production-ready status may not occur for several years" Definition of Several is more than 3, but less than Many. Non-refundable 10k deposit sounds too little in my opinion as to buy a barn find DeLorean and the EV motors and accessories would cost about 50-70 grand and a deposit is usually about 10% or retail. So I think people should be careful as it looks like a scam in my opinion.

Highly recommend everyone read the recent article in Wired about the dueling visions for the future of this car between DMC and a company part owned by John DeLorean's daughter. Personally I think hers is the better one (for one thing, it's gas powered).

Only a dummy would order this.

Elon Musk should have bought the right to use Delorean Motor Co. name. and made stainless steel bodied, gull wing doored EV sports car. and not made that Model X with wing door.

let's be real here. the dmc12 could never be road legal today and even if it was, it would lose everything that makes it iconic. it will be so expensive that it would just be another speculative asset for rich people. i say this while writing from my family's mansion. even if it wasnt a scam, it would just be an expensive waste of matal.

I'll believe it when it's actually physically built. Th8s smells of a big scam, yet again. It'll be cheaper to buy an engine damaged, poor condition Delorean, and do your own custom conversion using Tesla components, like Vintage Voltage in the UK that have actually done the job.

100% scam. It's a scam. Do not put money into this company - the best case is that you get your money back, and I highly doubt that you will. I also guarantee that they have not "sold" half of these (meaning there has not been 50 people to put down $10k). It's a complete scam, they will never make a real car. If you want a DeLorean EV you could reach out to the people who own the ~20 or so, and I'm sure any of them would be happy to part ways with it for $300k. :D

It doesn’t make sense to put 4 motors in a DeLorean unless they are in-hub motors with electronic throttle. That way you lose the engine, transmission, throttle linkage, half-shafts and fuel tank.
