What is the Maine difference between David and the other choreographers? The difference is that David knows the classical ballet very well, and he is probably the only one who does he’s works based on ballet, using any paints of the contemporary dances , don’t hide luck of the knowledge by substituting choreography by the only contemporary dance language. I personally like every new way in dance, every new music including artificial language by robots, but when it comes to the real people with deep immersion into the depths of the souls , the ballet base language is certainly out of any competition, because it is richest concentration of centuries experience of many cultures, hundreds an extraordinary talented choreographers, musicians, poets, artists, philosophers. But I think David’s productions not always successful, and I like it, because he is a human being, but very special.

Don’t kill me. Very inventive choreography, but put any other music , instead of this , and it will be the same effect. Empty. No love story. No man and woman. No contact, no souls. Just the name of the very famous ant extraordinary talented master of making dance tapestry. Torching the great music. But I am a fan of David’s talent, intelligentsy.

Utterly gorgeous. Dear David Dawson, every sensibility expressed in your choreography totally resonates with my own and the passionate and soulful engagement that you inspire and elicit from your dancers down to the authentically embodied and expressed nuance of the hands and fingers leaves me satisfied and inspired in ways that I rarely feel except when dancing myself. I am sure that the dancers must be transformed by the experience of working with you and touching into themselves and all so deeply. The last time I felt as moved by the totality of ballet choreography and its expression was in Stuttgart (where I think you are now setting something on the dancers!). There are choreographers such as Cranko and Kylian and those that followed them through their influence who have also moved me and whose work I love. However, I think I was soul touched in a way that went beyond anything when I heard and saw Mahler's Das Lied Von Der Erde choreographed by MacMillan for the first time and not even understanding the words or narrative cried uncontrollably for an hour afterwards - and cried for years after when ever hearing the last movement (Der Abscheid - The Farewell). Since recently feeling similarly touched when seeing your exceptionally moving trailer of your absolutely exquisite Four Last Songs, (the music of which deeply touched me when, circa 1971, Lorca Massine choreographed to it on some of the students in the advanced class I was in at S.A.B), I have been looking for complete works by you here at youtube. I have been savoring every snippet found and am so glad to see this more complete expression. I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more here and hopefully in person some day. Thank you so much. Deep bows of admiration and appreciation💗🙏

Choreography I can live with as well as dancers very nice but the concept/costume ??? It looks so so casual and doesn't go at all well with this gorgeous music. It looks like a laborers in love. Who's idea was it anyway ?? Innovation shouldn't come with degrading what's written in the music.

I saw this performed live by Scottish Ballet two weeks ago. It was lovely. You’re only seeing a small extract here and you can’t see with this lighting how nice the swan costume actually is. I was sceptical at first re the modern approach and no tutus concept but it really works to show off the dancing. The choreography was refreshingly different and cliches like the 32 fouettés and the little swans dance were changed. You really need to see it live before judging. 😊

Wow, spectacular!!!! I unfortunately missed that SFB’s season. Hope they will do it again. All the movements and dancers are beautiful and unique, but I have to say that I love Sofiane S. Her quality of movements, musicality, technique, beauty, etc makes her to be like a ‘magnet’, you have to see her. One more time, I LOVE your work.
