Would anybody give Taylor Swift the time of day if she behaved like Janis 50 years ago today? Janis Joplin made it possible for everyone who came after her. Debbie harry, madonna, Taylor swift, and all of you who never made it to the top

Janis did that “what do you think, Sam?” with Sam responding by giving her a kiss in other filmed interviews I’ve seen on KZfaq.

I know that others will say it was the other way around, but Janis was lucky to get with a guy that hot.

Janis shouldve stayed with big brother. Never really understood why she left them. I bet they wouldve evolved into a Heart sounding band
@dailyflash

She left them because they weren't very good musicians. It was nothing more than that. She still loved all those guys. A lot of people agree with you though. She sang with better musicians after Big Brother, but none of them had the great FEEL she had with Big Brother. They had a great chemistry and vibe.

Big brother and the holding company where there own sound,the guitar players both play lead and rhythm, they take turns.or they play the same stuff at the same time,thats groovy shit man,not many bands do that.peter playing bass is the singer before janis came along,he sings like razor blades are in his throat ya know really singing like it is his last day on earth.,dig that.and janis comes along does her magic with vocals and peter screaming moaning at midnight ,thats it,david getz plays on a simple as drum kit but fuck he knows how to do that kkkrrazzzy beats.A very loud ,krazzy,very krazzy band with glorious talent.i just got the double cd ,big brother and the holding company ball and chain.thats a piece of gold my friends.in the halls of the mountain king is a favorite tune i love lsd and play my SG to it.one more thing i love how big brother play sgs not all the time but they love that guitar .love and peace to all,happy xmas and stay loaded and free.respect to all from new zealand.

ROCK = if it feels good, the feeling WILL "move" you naturally, inspirationally. ROLL = Engaging responding and accepting. Naturally you ROLL with the rocking chemistry. Love, Unity, Harmony, and History. That's big brother and the holding company, and that's ROCK and ROLL

Actually, Big Brother & the Holding Company was an esoteric reference to drugs. "Holding" meant you were in possesion of drugs and "Big Brother" were the narcs waiting to bust you. There was also Blue Cheer. Wasn't laundry detergent but a type of LSD. Ah the good old days of rock and roll. Drugs, sex and membership in the 27 club. As Janis used to say, superhypermost. @@gratefuldrifter6588

I think it's the seaplane base on the Sausalito / Mill Valley line. During the late 60s the seaplane hanger served for rehearsals and some recording. Also, music people used to hang out there. John Lee Hooker told me about a drinking game they used to play there.

@@jensandersen7011 I'll tell you I'm Generation X AC/DC, Hair Bands, Metallica, Grunge Rock, Gangster Rap, Crack, Destroyed Borders, Tech/Computer Age. Hippies are spoiled parasites raised by the Greatest Generation not wanting them to feel the pain that they did because of the Dust Bowl Years, Stockarket Crash, The Great Depression,, Polio and Influenza Outbreak, WWII etc. My generation is Grounded, Grateful and Respected the Greatest Generation. Every kid I knew could name every military vehicle and aircraft of the Nazis, Japanese, Americans, British etc. We knew the Constitution, American history, how this nation was created... We volunteered for military duty. 60's Hippies "All we are saying is Give Peace a chance" "Kill everyone over 30 and Start With Your Parents" Chicago 7 Weather Underground I could go on and on.
