Hi Makgabo, thanks for the informative video. I have beeeen applying to the UAE. I eventually got a contract with ESE, but the contract was not so family friendly as most of my salary would be all spent on school fees and accomodation and hence pulled out. I’ve been applying for years to try and get a contract that will be best suited to my situation. I find that most agencies favour western trained teachers. How did you make sure that secure a job that side, perhaps in terms of CV, interview tips, etc. any helpful tips that can make one successful. And which one helped you you to get your job. Kind regards.
@makgabomahopo20 күн бұрын
Hello, wow I’ve seen many people move with their family to the UAE. Is that your only focus ? I’ve also seen people move with to China as family. I usually see parents recommending going away for a year to figure it out before bringing child/children or entire family along. Are you in the Facebook groups for South Africans in UAE? I don’t have enough knowledge as I’m currently single and child free. I’m happy to share my resume ,cover letter and interview tips. Although I genuinely think it was God’s favour more than anything. It felt like a miracle honestly.

You are not wrong, it is the easiest job in the world. Also it is not a career for young people starting out. it is a stop gap. The majority of agencies or ESL KZfaqrs tell you there is no career growth in teaching English. People ignore this for the glamour of being in another country.

Please can you tell us if the salary is worth moving from South Africa to South Korea? You don't have to mension the salaries just please estimate.
@makgabomahopo2 ай бұрын
Hello Nomcebo, if you’re unemployed and have nothing it’s absolutely worth it. It’s a good head start and salary increases with your experience! So yes it’s a 10000% worth it, in my opinion.I would gladly go back to Korea if I wanted to remain in the ESL industry, but I am a science teacher, and I like science too. For me, it’s more than just money. Even if I could get paid R1 000 000 000 per month in South Africa, I still wouldn’t choose to live here at this point in my life because of the QUALITY of life here. No amount of money can compare to the freedom, convenience and safety I felt living in Korea.The EPIK salary scale is also public m.epik.go.kr/description/salary01.php Maybe I’ll do a video and break it down ?

First person from the videos I have watched that talks about standard of living, abit shocked. I thought it's fruit that is expensive but I thought everything else is basically affordable except housing. But sis you are smart for seeing that for you there is no future and being brave enough to get the hell out in short of space of time. I wish I had done that in my current job, I work in an audit firm in SA, I knew I was not gonna get the experience I needed but I stayed now full of regrets but years have passed and now currently going through a wave of regret that I am struggling to get past and just feeling lost. But for once in my life, I am allowing myself to feel it all and be OK with being inadequate but I have set myself a time frame to go through the process of it but I know and will not wallow for ever

If you’re single, no child and no major financial responsibilities, it’s great!you still have a GREAT QUALITY of life, thankfully we don’t pay rent 😂I lived on R11000 ( I’m putting it in rands for context) and I was more than fine. Also I’m not a big spender honestly. You can still change your job 🫠and sometimes it’s good ti feel lost, so you can start figuring it out. If I ever want to teach ESL again, I’ll gladly return to korea 😂
